BB 3way defending ranges
Hey, guys. I need some help with developing defending ranges in the BB when we're 3way. I don't mean super-strict ranges that we can't deviate from, but to paint a general image of what hands we should aim for in these scenarios depending on how wide are the ranges we're up against.
I'd be mainly interested in 2 scenarios (it should probably paint us the picture of how our defending range changes depending on how wide the PFR+CC are)
1) EP opens + HJ cold calls
2) CO opens + BU cold calls
------------------------------------
1)
Let's assume that EP opens ~15% to 3x:
{22-66(1/2), 77+, AT+/KJ+/sBRDW/Axs(1/2)/65s-T9s(1/2)
I modeled this range with only half weight of some groups of hands as everyone models their PFR differently.
HJ's CC range (~7%):
{88-QQ/KK+(1/2)/AQ+/KJs/89s-QJs(1/2)
**
Hero @ BB:
-pot odds: 2bb/9.5bb ~21%
So, I generally try to skew towards suited high card/connected hands rather than weaker off brdws as I'm really uncomfortable playing those weak TP against strong ranges.
Obviously it's not about our raw equity, but how much of that E are we able to realize (I'm referring to the 'R' factor) - how do we determine which hands are good candidates to overcall here?
My approximate range would look more or less like this:
{22+,A2s+,K2s+,Q2s+,J8s+,T8s+,97s+,86s+,75s+,65s,54s,ATo+,KJo+}
My main concern was about those suited hands - do I have to worry about reverse implied odds so much vs ranges where there aren't that many of those in both players ranges? (but still - most of the ones that are there - have me dominated), or should I defend pretty much any suited hand given that the % of hands that dominate me, relative to their whole ranges is not that big and I'd have pretty good implied odds vs tight ranges? (I picked some with great playability/straight possibility and high-card value - ppl tend to autostab Qhi+ boards from what I've noticed)
------------------------------------
2) CO opens ~28% to 3x
{22+,A2s+,K2s+,Q6s+,J8s+,T8s+,97s+,86s+,75s+,65s,54s,ATo+,KTo+,QTo+,JTo}
BU's CC range (~13%)
{99-22,AJs-ATs,KJs-KTs,QTs+,JTs,T8s+,97s+,86s+,75s+,65s,Ad9d,Ah9h,Kd9d,Kh9h,Qd9d,Qh9h,Jd9d,Jh9h,Ad8d,Ah8h,AJo+,KQo}
So here, given the ranges are relatively wider, tend to overcall really wide (~60% or so, not sure)
any suited/any Ax/any connected hand/(Q+/8+) - i'm not too comfortable hitting TP with absolutely no kicker, so I've decided to just muck them pre and start calling roughly halfway)
Any thoughts about how I should approach these situations?
(yes, I realize that it's such a wall of text, so I'm okay with this post being ignored, but I've decided to throw it out there anyway hoping that it comes across a kind soul that will decide to help :p)
Thanks!
