AKo turning TPTK on wet board

Blinds: $0.05/$0.10 (6 Players) BB: $11.54
UTG: $10.00
MP: $13.73
CO: $10.10 (Hero)
BN: $19.31
SB: $6.19
Preflop ($0.15) Hero is CO with A K
MP raises to $0.30, Hero raises to $0.75, 3 folds, MP calls $0.45
No reads on the villain, he was relatively new to the table.
Flop ($1.65) T 7 J
MP checks, Hero bets $0.78, MP calls $0.78
In hindsight, I think a check here is best, especially since he opened pre. I think this flop goes well with a lot of his range (assuming generic MP opening ranges [TJ, KQ, 910s, etc]).
Turn ($3.21) T 7 J K
MP checks, Hero checks
I checked back planning to simply check or call on the river. It's a pretty wet board and I think after the check back on the turn a lot of villains would take a stab with somewhat mediocre hands.
River ($3.21) T 7 J K 7
MP bets $2.00, Hero calls $2.00
I feel like we still beat a lot of the hands he could potentially be turning into a bluff/semi-bluff here, although there's still a decent chance we're beaten and the check on the turn was simply a trick to get us to bet into him. When he leads on the river, I was a little confused.
