It seems weird but I think we have to fold here.
If we give him 99, KK+ & AK we have 22.2% equity and we need 33%.
If we give him A9s which is 1 combo more, we still only have 30% equity.
But I would just Bet / Bet / Bet.

Ow yeah, my mistake. He shouldn't have AA & KK.
Really gross then actually.
Then it all depends on what he does with 55 on the flop. If he always bets them then it's a call, if he doesn't it's a fold.
Really close spot and I don't think it matters that much what you do here.

why didnt you give him a FD? he can raise turn as nobody showed agression on the flop and he might think he can make fold our Kx. I would sqz KQ there to iso myself vs the fish for sure

Knoxox 10 years ago

No reg will raise a FD on this turn as your range is supposed to be superstrong.
That being said a reg shouldn't raise here with any hand.

Sansei 10 years ago

I dont agree that OP is superstrong here, std play with fish in hand is bet bet bet, so as checked reg can have SDv vs fish range

Well obviously we are happy to snap off turn & river as played
Just bet flop imo 3way with a fish behind, he will have a lot of stuff to continue here
Would bet turn bigger as well but whatever, guess it worked out, dunno how you could question your turn & river calls after you took a line which was supposed to exploit this guy for being too aggressive

Assuming he is a reg, he knows that your line is ridiculously strong (once you dont fold to his T raise...when you check flop, you either have rare giveup, or QQ type hand that is not betting turn, or weak Ax that is not calling a raise, or an absolute monster that crushes the board). Its not an easy decision either way, mostly because even the "nutted" hands that he reps (99) dont beat your perceived continuing range.

Fwiw I think that once you check the flop, you need to check the turn again. I also think that betting flop is preferable, we have enough other stuff to balance xC range.

I'd probably sigh, click call and mark the hand as a spew.

Hey, i play lower stakes than this and i'm pretty fuzzy on the meaning of this. Is it possible for you to elaborate for an enthusiast such as myself? :)

btw: always enjoy your contributions

Thank you.

Well, we dont want to cbet 100% of hands, our range would become too weak/betting some hands is nonsense from theoretical standpoint (not valuebets, not bluffs). Against regs we dont want to be plan to fold everytime we check, that becomes easily exploitable, so we want to pick some stronger hands in our range and xC them too. Usually we either pick hands that cant get that much value themselves, but, because of blockers or backdoors can stand some heat and beat villain's bluffs, like weak Ax, or hands like AA that crush the board and block most hands villain can calldown with.

This is a balancing act, since we want to have some strong valuehands in our cbetting range too. Esp on boards like this, because we wanna be cbetting a lot. AK does block fair bit of his range, but most people here still agree that this its still a hand better off put into cbetting range. Presumably because blocking Kx is not that big of a deal, those hands are calling one street only anyway.

simple bet bet bet right?
as played its probably close either way but I think have to call given the way you played it. fwiw I don't think fish get so excited on AKx boards without having what they consider the nuts.
he could have A9cc A3cc and since hes a fish maybe throw in 1 or 2 spaz combos I guess

I'd just BBB, as everyone says. I'd like X much more if it was HU vs a fish and I had a read that he barrels 3 streets vs XC from the PFR - if not, I prefer to get 3 streets myself.

As played, not loving it, but I'd probably 'FML-call', but I doubt anyone would fault you for folding here.
