Adjusting Lefort’s “R” to account for high rake
In his 6max concepts (Part 3: BB vs steals- http://www.runitonce.com/pro-training/videos/lefort8/),
former RIO instructor Sean Lefort “conservatively” estimates the BB’s R at approximately 60% when facing a
BTN min raise.
Let’s assume his analysis is for a typical 5/10 6max game
where the rake is 4.5% capped at .3bbs. How should we go about determining our R
in a game where the rake is 5% capped at 1bb?
I’m attempting to come up with a proceeding range for BB vs
a 3x open with this rake structure. Intuitively it seems like the rake should
argue for a significant strategy change (3betting more, flatting less), as our
EV in many spots is presumably fractions of a BB (before rake), such that a
rake cap of 1bb turns many +EV calls into –EV ones. However, I’m not good with
working this stuff out and don’t know how to quantify it.
Can someone educate me as to how I should go about doing
this?
