Villain bets pot on the river and I don't see many hands that I beat when he takes this line - just busted FDs?
Thoughts?
Question: if villain had not lead, should I still be value-betting the river? (Or is it too thin?)
Thanks.

Definitely folding. He has 89 here very often, or some kind of weird two pair hand he overplays, and I doubt he bluffs spades on a board where you likely won't fold much.
Had he checked, it would have been very close between a check a smallish bet. So many hands improve him on the river. TJ, QJ, 89 etc.
Probably checking.
First of all I think you should open bigger pre flop at micros. Most of them don't 3bet much at all and fold too much to cbets on dry boards, and otherwise call down too light, so this allows you to a. increase your fold equity pre flop, so you will win more that way. b. you will win more money with cbets, since the pot you win on the flop is bigger. c. in case you have a good hand and they can't fold, you win a bigger pot.
So you cbet flop, why do you do this? What is his callingrange here? What is my plan if he c/r? Those are all questions you should ask yourself and are probably good to post here as well since it improves your thought process much quicker. So you, you want to cbet flop, since he calls Qx, Tx, AJ, KJ, K9, some flush draws, and maybe even some 7x since you minopen flop. Once he raises flop, he has sets, 2 pair, flush draws, and you will probably have to fold. This is not a problem though, since I don't suspect to get c/r a lot by players at 5nl at all.
Turn his callingrange is basically the same, so you have to b/f again. I like your sizing too, since I don't think his callingrange changes much if you bet bigger.
River, he leads. Well, you should try to put him on a range again. We estimated that his flop and turn callingrange was Qx, Tx, AJ, KJ, some flush draws, and maybe even some 7x since you minopen flop. 7x is really unlikely to lead, agree? People don't turn made hands into bluffs in general. TJ gets there, QT, K9, JJ. If you count combos, this is 9 combos of TJ, 6 combos of QT, 12 combos of K9, 3 combos of JJ, which is a total of 30 valuecombos. Maybe, sometimes he donkbets a missed flush draw, but since he also c/r some flush draws on flop, he doesn't have many. Maybe some Axs, but a lot of them also have a pair, so those won't donkbet. So even if he donkbets all Axs that misses river, and even if he plays them c/c c/c donkbet all, it is still only A2-A5 (4), A8-A9 (2), so 6 combos total. So this means, he only has 6/36 = 1/6 of the time a bluff, if my assumptions are correct. Since you have to win roughly 1/3 times on the river, this is a clear fold.
Also I would like to add that c/c c/c donkbet river in general is never a bluff from regulars at microstakes, but I just tried to show that even if you give him some missed flush draws, that it is still a pretty easy fold.
Thanks very much for the post, appreciated.
With regards to my question: should we be checking or making a smallish value bet if villain had checked the river, or is it a bit too thin?
You should open pokerstove and see if u have more than 50% equity with his callingrange, and this assumes u get never c/r bluffed, which is a fair assumption I think. Would say it is too thin.
