50nlz - Missed value w/ FH?

Blinds: $0.25/$0.50 (6 Players) BN: $52.82
SB: $40.47
BB: $76.02
UTG: $143.57 (Hero)
MP: $51.00
CO: $73.29
Preflop ($0.75) Hero is UTG with 9 9
Hero raises to $1.25, 2 folds, BN calls $1.25, SB folds, BB calls $0.75
Flop ($4.00) 9 7 8
BB checks, Hero bets $2.00, BN raises to $5.75, BB calls $5.75, Hero calls $3.75
Turn ($21.25) 9 7 8 8
BB checks, Hero checks, BN checks
River ($21.25) 9 7 8 8 4
BB checks, Hero bets $12.50, BN folds, BB folds

Only have 12 hands on both players so no reads.

Flop, I bet 1/2 pot as we get a lot of Tx & flush draws to continue. BB can have 78 which we have basically dead.

Can we lead turn say 1/4 pot when we hit the FH? Get extra value from flush draws and overpairs. Always then getting it in against 78 and win a larger pot against JT?
