50NL home game, thin call OTR with 2nd pair
We're playing a short handed $0.50/$0.50 $20 min, no cap home game so stacks are relatively deep. Villain is sitting with roughly $130, or 260BB and I cover. He is what I believe to be an aggressive regular and a good player. Action is as follows:
Folds around to Villain and he opens to $2 in the cutoff which has been his standard size throughout the night. Dealer folds, and I 3-bet with QTo in the SB, because Villain has been calling light IP and my raise was for pure value. BB folds.
Flop: 5K5, rainbow.
I c-bet $9 into a pot of $15 and Villain calls. At this point, although it's a 3-bet pot, I don't think we can narrow Villain's range too much given that he's been extremely loose to 3-bets and we're deep. He is totally capable of floating and taking it away on the turn if I check. His range is any pair, a 5, a K, ace high, and total air.
Turn: T.
I check. He checks.
River: 8. No obvious draws were completed.
I check. Villain bets $20 into a pot of $33. I call.
I was getting laid roughly 2.5:1 on a call so I'd needed to have the best hand at least 28% to break even. I think Villain does have air a decent amount of the time given the action and could have been betting to push me off ace high or weak pair. He could also have a weaker ten trying for a thin value bet? Thoughts on my call or play in general?
