Do you guys think that x/c the flop is a better option vs a fairly aggressive villain? I cbet originally because I was thinking he is unlikely to fold most of his good A highs on this board and he might float worse. But actually, if we x we give him a chance to stab with his air hands that he may fold to a cb. Also, if we cb and get raised it's a really tough spot to play OOP. Given we are at the bottom of our value range we shouldn't have a problem folding here but I think that x/c flop may actually be a better option?

Easy fold we are behind any pocket pair or flush + overs or any random 8x hand just fold there is no value in a pair of 3s. At least i dont see any there is no turn card that helps us and every turn card besides 2 helps him even an Ace is bad for us cause he could bluff raise here with AKor any better Ace. Just fold
i like b/f in general. folding out his "air hands" isn't really a bad thing. we protect our equity from 6 outs and possibly more ott
You are right, when you x the flop he can stab with all his bluffs, but do you realy want to x/c there?? The hand isn´t over when you call!!! He is likely to bet turn again with his air which make your life difficult and checks back his mid pairs which beat you.
His range to raise the flop is pretty bluff heavy i guess, cause no reasonable reg will raise a pocket pair there!!! So i tend to call his raise and decide on turn. It may look like a contradiction to what i sayed before, but i think he will play the turn much more honest when you b/c instead of x/c!!
Hmm I think I might actually agree with b/f after further review. Most of his "air" hands have 6 clean outs against us and we really don't want to let them get a free look at the turn. We should be able to just pick up the pot there and make them fold their equity a fair amount of the time.
@Earl
I think the villain's range is very dependent on the type of player we are up against. Yes, some villains will have bluff heavy ranges but I don't think we should have a problem folding the bottom of our cbetting range. We have alot better hands in our range to bluff catch with.
If we b/f flop w/ this hand then what are we calling with? 44+? 99+? FDs? 8x+? Where is the line?
I would probably fold 44-66 to a raise. Continue with 33, 77, 99+, FDs, and 8x. As long as we are not folding too much of our range we cannot be exploited with this spot. It's usually not going to be a problem if you fold the bottom of your range to a raise in any situation. I'm still trying to learn to play my range vs villain's range and not just my hand vs villain's range, so if you have any insight on this it'd be cool.
No insight here... trying to learn just like you. :)
I think I like your range, though I haven't done any math on it. At first I thought 77 would be a fold but it does block potentially all his 87s combos depending on suits which would cut his value range quite a bit.
Looks good. I like betting here because we can't hit two pair so there's little value to letting villain's ace highs get to see free cards.
