I got no stats on villain.
Preflop
($0.75)
Hero is UTG with
K

Flop
($3.75)

Villain could do this with all kinds of draws. For value he can obv have all sets here as well as maybe some strong 1 Pair + SD hands. (87s, 76s)
Turn
($17.45)

Q

The Qs obv doesn't improve any of his draws. I decide to call and decide on the river.
River

Pretty bad card even though it reduces villains set combos. If he was bluffing with the FD he just got there,
Final Pot
BN wins $39.26
Rake is $1.85
Rake is $1.85
So is this the standard way to play this? What if the river blanked?

Against an unknown I'm folding flop or turn. But yeah definitely fold the river as he can't really have a lot of bluffs.
If we call the flop and fold the turn we should just fold the flop as the Q is essentially a brick. Seems fine as played.
Not necessarily since we can continue on diamond turns and he might also give up on some. He also doesn't rep much except sets because he shouldn't have many 2p or straights in his preflop range. To me it looks like we should also rather c/c KK if we're not willing to b/c. I agree that it's an ugly spot if raised though.
i wouldn't hate check callinf flop and turn if u mix in some of ur suited connectors in that play the same way ( if u open those utg). as played folding turn
Folding flop seems weak because villain has lots of combo draws he would play this way. One relevant argument is that you hold the Kd, which decreases the possible flush draws for villain. But still I think you played it fine
On a dangerous board like this oop with KK, C/C is better imo
I'd fold flop and hate it. villain is unknown and we are oop where half the board is gonna be awful for us. our equity vs his range isn't great and considering all the other elements I think folding the flop is fine. Yeah it's technically exploitable and feels super weak but we are talking about an unknown so who cares.
meh just noticed you have Kd. I guess it's closer but I still don't like it.
TBH I think I`m going to consider x/calling much more often in such spots... based on experience.
If you bet/call flop, you are most likely going to give up on either turn or river... unless the board completely bricks...
I think that especially vs unknown is better to x/call or just fold to the raise and forget about it.
