400bb deep spot vs LAG opponent.
Hi guys! I came across this spot playing in live cash games and i thought it would be interesting to hear about some thoughts about various flop and turn plays when playing deep stack NLHE.
The game was a full ring 10 handed game and i was on the button with AcQs(400bb effective). I doubled up vs villain few hands prior to this and the action was as the following.
Binds 100/200
I opened MP with AKss to $700 (35k effective)and got flatted by CO. Villain 3 bets to $3000 and i 4 bet to $7500. He calls and we took it to the flop of A 3 8 rainbow. I cbet 8k and villian shoves 30k. Called and he has AQ. Not sure why he shove the flop but its good information to know how he plays his ranges.
Few hands later he limped MP and a weak tight female player raises 1K. I called the btn with AQo and it went 3 way.
Flop Qc 7d 6d ,pot size 3.3k
I have $80k and villain had me covered
Villain checks,PFR checks,i bet 2.1k. Villain raises to 6.5k. What's our line here?
Some strategic options i have in mind here :
Flop i think betting has more merits here especially vs a LAG opponent limp calling range. PFR plays pretty str8 forward here and we could safely rule out the possibility of her having a strong hand. Checking seems ok especially with an Ace in our hand and could have implied odds if somehow the turn brings an Ace. Now when we are getting check raised here vs a polarized range,we could just call the bet and take the hand to the turn with position(boring standard) or we could 3 bet. I'm not sure if 3 betting make any sense here but i could see some pros for doing so. I protect my hand vs draws and at the same time uncap my range here. It protect our range from overbetting on the turn vs LAG opponents and we are in an extremely tough spot when deep.
What actually happened:
I called 6.5k and turn Jc, villain bets 22k. I folded
Of course i'm not in love with my turn play but i felt he is somehow strong here and most of his bluffs have great equity vs my hand. Although it was kind of a weak tight fold, i felt i could capitalize my edge vs his aggression in other spots.
How would you guys feel about 3 betting this hand vs this villain on flop and i will be interested in various thoughts about flop and turn play. Cheers =)
