3-bet looks small to me here, figure I can't fold

Two questions here. Was it right to call the 3-bet here? I figure a CO 3-bet against a LJ open is pretty strong, but the sizing was a bit small so I decided to call. What's your thought process for calling 3-bets in spots like these?
The next question is how to best get value? Flop is pretty favorable, trips, but I thought my hand was still some what vulnerable due to the diamonds/connection. Check/raise a good play, or should I have led out? What's the best way to get value on a flop like this?
