25nlz BB defensing range(vs weak opponents)

Let’s construct Big Blind defense range! (with Cameron Couch)

Pot odds

3.5x -> 33% -> alpha*0.955 = 33% -> alpha = 34%
3x -> 31% -> alpha = 32.4%
2.5x -> 27% -> alpha = 28.27%
2x -> 22% -> alpha = 23.03%

Let’s take rake into account. After you pay the rake, your winrate should be at least equal to pot odds. Then alpha*(1-rake) = pot odds. Alpha is the minimum equity we need.

If the pot is bigger than 44.4$, rake is only 2$. In SRP situation this doesn’t happen usually, so I’ll take this out of consideration.

2. Vs villain RFI (80% equity realization - passive or weak opponents)

Let’s give 2.5% more to suited connectors.
Let’s give 3% less non suited dominated hands.

10% - A9s(32.2%), A8s(31.7%) -> below A9s bluff candidate
KQo(32.1%) -> bluff candidate
QJs(29.8%), T9s(28.1%) -> below KQs it’s fold or 3b

15% - A8s(35%), A7s(34.37%) -> vs aggression we can get away from hitting A together
67s(29.4%), 78s(30.88%), 89s(32.01%), T9s(33.25%) -> good 3b bluff candidate
KTs(34.15%), K9s(32.34%) -> K9s bluff candidate
KQo(32.94%), KJo(32.1%), QJo(30.8%), JTo(30.2%) -> below KQo is fold vs UTG, even KQ has domination issue so 3 bet would be better
QTs(32.88%), JTs(32.7%), J9s(31.4%)-> below JTs, 3b bluff

20% - A4s(35.34%), A2(34.2%)
A7o(34.2%) -> but I would call suited connector rather.
67s(30.2%), 78s(31.05%), 89s(31.7%), T9s(32.34%) -> below 89s 3b bluff
K8s(32.75%) -> K7s bluff candidate
KJo(33.54%), KTo(31.83%), QJo(31.38%), QTo(31.4%), JTo(30.89%) -> below KJo it’s fold
Q9s(32.5%), J9s(32.01%), T8s(31.4%) -> J9s, T8s as bluff

Q: Is K8s better than 89s?

25% - 67s(31.78%), 78s(32.41%), 89s(33.43%) -> below 78s 3b bluff
K6s(34.35%), K5s(33.83%), K4s(33.28%), K3s(32.76%), K2s(32.29%) ->
Q8s(33.17%), Q7s(31.95%)
J9s(33.36%), J8s(32.07%)
KTo(35.44%), K9o(33.14%), QTo(32.53%)
78s(32.46%), 67s(31.59%)
T9o(31.61%) -> T9o is fold

50% - Q2s(33.36%)
J5s(32.73%)
T7s(33.2%), T6s(32.14%)
97s(33.8%), 68s(32.51%)
67s(33%), 56s(32.39%)
K7o(35.03%) -> real equity will be lower than this.
98o(31.15%)

60% - J8o(35.54%), J7o(33.88%)
J2s(33.09%)
T5s(32.65%), T4s(32.36%)
96s(33.23%)
75s(32.61%)
45s(32.18%)

All the ranges are on the assumption opening size is 3bb.

New learning:

suited connectors/gappers don't have SDV, so it's less inclined to call rather than 3b
suited K and Q even J has higher EV than I thought
off suited connectors are weaker than I thought

Limitation:

I've done this only with Equilab so it's not exact computed number nor range. If you have better softwares, please point out my errors.
