25NL Zoom 85s BVB

Hi everyone, I posted this hand elsewhere and it got a mixed response so I thought I would post it here too. I will discuss my thought process at the time after a few responses and say whether or not I agree with it still. I have no useful sample on villain's other stats but the ones below indicate he is a decent reg.

BTN: 158.12 BB

Hero (SB): 254.96 BB

BB: 100 BB (VPIP: 22.22, PFR: 17.46, 3Bet Preflop: 9.09, Hands: 64)

UTG: 43.6 BB

MP: 110.84 BB

CO: 104.04 BB

Hero posts SB 0.4 BB, BB posts BB 1 BB

Pre Flop (pot: 1.4 BB) Hero has  8s5s fold, fold, fold, fold, Hero raises to 3 BB, BB calls 2 BB

Flop:(6 BB, 2 players) 8h 7h 4c Hero bets 4.28 BB, BB raises to 12.56 BB, Hero raises to 28 BB

it might sound nity...but maybe folding to his raise right away is a good option....There is no real turn card that we can stand heat on and vs a somewhat decent raising range we´re also not doin well anyways

But its a tough one  for sure...But beside folding im not sure about 3betting flop, cauz vs a huge part of his range (that we might be ok against) we dont have too much FE. So we have a real problem playing turns unimproved and could also get into real trouble if a 6 (esp 6h) falls....

So readless i guess i prefer a straight fold....

i lump this hand into my check/call range unless my opponent is passive - in which case i don't fear being raised and can safely bet/fold

if he is raising wide, you making it easier to play by 3betting the flop to fold out his weak made hands/bluffs, but this might be unnecessary and unprofitable depending on how often he is raising. and if he is raising with a good draw, the price he gets to see a turn card is still reasonable - which makes 3betting the flop an unattractive play in the first place.

having [incorrectly] bet this hand versus an aggressive player, you might find it better to fold to the raise and not be guessing. the backdoor flush draw and gut shot may allow you to peel one card except part of his raising range is draws himself and your gut shot is non-nut. if i do peel the flop with a gut shot i prefer to be drawing to 3 or 4 nut outs.
