villain is basically unknown. I expect there to be a lot of Qx in his 3bet calling range (KQ, AQ for sure) and I don't have much to protect against so I check back flop. After checking back is this a mandatory calldown?

Checking back the flop is fine because you're not getting three streets from a worse hands, and you block hands like AJ that will likely call.
As played, I don't see how you can fold.
89s/T9s all missed, you rarely have better and he may even value bet a hand like KJ.
Defenitely what?! Please tell us! :(
Phone was messing up.
I'll add that you also block AQ.
Also, you're never calling if you fold this hand.
That's an indication that you should be checking back Qx sometimes, otherwise Villian can just overbet overbet jam any draw, as well as Qx.
I'll add that you also block AQ.
Yep important point

another important point.
You have to call this down. If you're not calling this you're never calling in this spot and villain can always profitably bluff you or in this case maybe valuebet the river with worse, because he might think you have 99-JJ.
If you think about your range I would say that it looks like a lot of pocket pairs that wants to se a showdown. If he's any good he will recognise this and put preasure on you just like this. Since we dont have any hands/reads on him Ill just default to how high up in our range we are and snap call.
I think its a sigh call. I like how its played, I think a lot of guys (including me) would just bet flop and look for 3 streets, so I think you are losing almost as little as you can.
In game I called, basically for the same reason that many have mentioned - I rarely have a better hand to call with. But is an unknown at 25nl really bluffing/vbetting worse here close to 40% of the time? Are there enough players in the population bluffing enough of the time to make up for the significant portion who are bluffing here like 5%?
Also, are 89s/T9s standard calls vs a 3bet BVB? I think I get 3bet BVB far less often than say CO vs BU at 25nl.
True.. But seriously villain could b value betting worse, given the line..
You have under rep your hand somewhat with the check back..
From villain perspective he is now betting some worse pairs for value against your turn range that check back the flop..
If you had led the flop and turn I'd checkback the river..
When he bets the king river ,his range is polarized as he does not fear you hitting it AK
However when he's barreling that's a decent card for him to empty the clip to have u fold all you pp that called 4 the street.
Which in fact makes a huge part of your precived turn calling range in this situation..
Called 4th street*
