I would raise flop or jam turn, as played river is call imo. I dont think you are getting called by worse in a 3b pot there.

ahh thank you, yeah river I already though I made mistake by jamming but was not sure, why would you raise the turn though because of the added flushdraw and deny equity?

Aroma 3 years, 11 months ago

Deny equity and set myself the price for draws. I am raising that flop 100% of the time vs 1/3 in position with top pair. On top of that you'd be raising flop or turn with a set or top 2 right? Have to balance that with some semi/decent/bluffy hands.

But whats your plan if you get 3bet or jammed OTF? Sounds like a bad spot to get into as i doubt we can profitably call this off.
So i would also lean towards raising this spot more polar and flat hands like JT.

RaoulFlush - I fold If I get 3b on the flop after the1/3cbet. I wanna find out where I am at. This topic has more layers that would fit into an overall strategy. Mine is to play agg IP with made hands and not 3b too much OOP. I prefer it this way, I balance my raise and calls based on position not whole cards.
In this case, I got 3b by the SB(fairly wide 3b range). I flop top pair and get 1/3 cbet into - what do I do? I dont fold top pair to 1/3 bet, so I can call or raise. As most of the time we are good with top pair I prefer raising instead of calling and let another card come. If I get 3b it wont be by AK or AQ, so I am confident I am against an overpair or a better 10 and I have an easy fold.
If villan has broadway draws like QJ, KQ or 77-88 I wish to charge for their draws or b/d.
In this hand jamming turn is awful for OOP player and puts them into a very difficult spot even with KK or AA.

Think about it a bit more. Raising for info is really bad play. You fold almost every of his bluffs and instead isolate yourself against top of range. Obviously you have no problem folding JTs that has ~25% equity against overpairs. So question is simple - are you denying equity for opponent range or your range?

IP here I don't think we want to be raising flops or jamming turn. The river is really close and I actually like the jam vs some regs, the hands you lose to should be shoving this river always, when I use this size I am generally going for thinner value with AJ / KJ.

The problem is that I think population are not overbet jamming too often and maybe not always value betting QQ/KK/AA with 100% frequency and then I think your river jam quickly goes from good to quite poor.

This seems pretty close. He has all the overpairs that are unblocked. He has one combo of TT, possibly 3 combos of 99 and 4 unblocked combos of KQs (KQo seems rare, but could be in there). 7 likely combos that dominate us (again, could be higher if he 4b's with KQo sometimes) and 18 combos that we crush. This line through his river bet is consistent with overpairs+. Can he fold his losers needing about 18% equity to call your raise?
