150bb Deep 3-bet Pot OOP vs Reg 100NL
Villain raises Button to 3bb and has Hero Covered 146bb effective. Villain stats are 20/14 over 44 hands.
Hero has Ah Qs to 10bb
BB fodls
Bttn Calls 7bb
Flop Ad 7c 5d Pot = $20
Given that we are deep, I find myself more hesitant to start betting the flop because I don't feel confident that we can get 3 streets of value for 150bb.
-Checking doesn't seem super appealing because I doubt villain is going to be putting in a ton of bluffs when checked too on the A board.
- Betting flop and checking turn eliminates much of his air that might have otherwise bet when checked too. I suppose. after we bet flop and C/C turn, I doubt villain will be putting in too many bluffs.
Looking over it now, maybe AQ is strong enough to use as a triple barrel for 150bb stacks. He should have all of the AJo combos, ATs, and If he is flatting more Axs then that only works in our favor. Even though we are deep, I would venture to guess that villain is 4-betting AK at some frequency, I imagine I would be doing the same expecting to be able to get value from worse and also be able to push my equity being IP and being able to effectively bet post flop. I'd also be flatting AKo at a high frequency, weather or not this is correct is something I need to find out. Looking back at it, I think it is likely good enough to try and bet 3 streets here given we are 150bb deep.
As we get deeper, how does our strategy change? There is some merit in sizing our bets to aim for around the 100bb mark, but that might make our range too transparent because If we had the nuts/a balanced range, wouldn't we be using a sizing that would attempt to get stacks in the middle?
As we get deeper, is it common for strategies to aim at only getting 100ishbb post flop, say we were 300bb deep?
I know I'm throwing a lot out there, looking for some good discussion, let me know your thoughts!
