100z - A high in 4b pot

BN: $364.49
SB: $201.45
BB: $118
UTG: $99.89
HJ: $350.68
CO: $146.08 (Hero)
340 hands on villain - 30/26/7.6 AF1.9 3b from BB vs steal 12%, have note on him that he flatted min 5b with 56s before.
Preflop ($1.50) (6 Players)
Hero was dealt K A
UTG folds, HJ folds, Hero raises to $2.50, BN folds, SB folds, BB raises to $8.50, Hero raises to $18.50, BB calls $10
Should maybe just flat the 3b being 120 deep but with my note on him I thought 4b was better.
Flop ($41.00) 3 8 8 (2 Players)
BB checks, Hero checks
Turn ($41.00) 3 8 8 8 (2 Players)
BB bets $25, Hero calls $25
River ($91.00) 3 8 8 8 5 (2 Players)
BB bets $74.50, and is all in, Hero calls $74.50
Final Pot
BB has Q Q BB wins $233.70
sorry it wouldn't let me hide results

Should I just fold turn? If I call turn should I call all rivers apart from Q,J,T?

It looks like you are calling the river for a chop?

I don't see anything else that you can beat. And you lose so often to pocket pairs. I don't see that river call being profitable.

Also I don't know why you are checking flop. I think you can get called by worst A9+ type of hands.

He beats all non-pocket pair hands, some of those pairs flat the raise preflop. Rarely would villain bluff A5 turn only to value shove river or have 8x. We see Villain shows up with marginal hands in 3bet/5bet pots so we know his range contains more speculative hands so his line is reasonable

This really is a hot topic and it comes up often. Playing AK in 3bet pots in and out of position and we really need more info on villain's tendencies.

How does villain perceive our flop checking range? Does villain stab? Does he check with marginal showdown

What i'm wondering is if we were 'balanced' here with hands other than AK, that villain couldn't auto value bet turn with anything that beats AK BUT .. let me rephrase...

If villain ASSUMES you have AK in this spot and auto value bets hands that beat AK OTT, how might we begin building a balanced strategy here?

So when i think about that more i feel like we should be cbetting our entire range on these boards. I don't want to be checking back with AA/KK because we get value from worse. And JJ and lower become vulnerable to overcards. Assuming villain never slowplays AA/KK to a 4bet

OR we including exactly AA and some AK AQ perhaps?

@catkliss, If you think we can cbet flop for value because he has so many worse hands then there is your answer to what hands we can beat by calling river.

@Daz, I think vs this villain we should probably check back our whole range on this particular flop as he will likely be folding too much when we have value hands. Then value cut himself/bluff too much. That being said, playing exploitably and cbetting our air but checking back AA/KK here may be best... It is 100 zoom where I'm not exactly gona be in this spot with the same villain really often so being balanced probably isn't our main objective.

I definitely put myself in a shitty spot here and the whole hand ended up being me just guessing how how likely he is to try and bluff me off what he probably thinks is AK like 80%+.

'If villain ASSUMES you have AK in this spot and auto value bets hands that beat AK OTT, how might we begin building a balanced strategy here?'

If he uses this strategy and is balanced with bluffs/hands that beat AK I think we can exploit him easily just by checking back QQ+ then calling all turns and rivers since he will be value cutting himself for a fullstack almost everytime.

The real question is why are you trying to build a balanced strategy if you think the Villain is unbalanced?a

His turn checking range will also be very weak, and you can just bet real small with your entire range when he checks the turn.
