Please refrain from discussing anything related to GTO in this hand, V is not playing GTO. This is a exploitative decision. Thanks.
V has been loose/passive. 36/11/15 VPIP/PFR/AFq. Lots of limp calling. He did however recently raised with AKs, called a 4x 3bet OP against 50bb stack. Then donked on 6c8hQc half pot.
As played on river, can we fold this? Such a weird line for a l/p V. With the backdoor flush coming in, what do I beat here? Like would a l/p V really take this line with 9T or the like?

I think this is standard I call he could have jack's and thinks it's good
You can't exploit unless you know what is optimal.
I'd call probably
Strongly agree with this. Gives you an idea of how much of an exploit you are making. Also gives you a default strategy to follow if you are not sure. It sounds in this case like you are unsure. If you want to make an exploitative decision which way do you want to go? Call more due to weird line? Call less due to passivity? Or is this the aspect you would like advice on?
Yeah I saw this and was very confused about how exactly to tackle the question, am I allowed to discuss blockers to pick out our best calling hands? That sounds dangerously close to GTO talk. We're so far off the equilibrium after this donk bet that GTO in the traditional sense isn't going to enter into the discussion anyway.
Looks like a fish overplaying Jx/ going crazy with flop OESD. I dont think you should worry about a flush on the river. V can possible have 2 combos of J8s and 86s here though
Good points guys, thanks.
You guys sniffed it out. I idiotically throw Aces into the muck and V shows JTo presumably to show he wasn't bluffing
Sigh, I have such a long way to go in my study. Back to it I go.
Yeah, that type of showdown is more common than you'd think. I tend to just calldown all good "bluffcatchers" when a fishy player is executing a funky line such as this one.
If he bet-bet-jammed JTo, he actually was bluffing (at least on the river). Jamming on a flush-completing board-pairing card with top pair, fourth kicker cannot be for value. What worse hands will call him?
Anyway, in either case, generally when you beat any value bet (in addition to bluffs), you should tend to call. Villain could definitely have AJ here. Some loose/passive people even limp/call with KK/QQ and then go ham on any board where they have an overpair. Also, consider the fact that the river is an 8, so it reduces the combos of sets/two pairs which he can have, and also counterfeits some two pairs.
Yes this hand would have to be categorized as a bluff, but I am saying I believe he thinks he had the best hand and was showing me that I made a good fold.
SNAP call, recs are more mergy than you think and they could be doing this with AJ, QQ, JK and lots of broken st8 draws.
I would just jam turn though.
