should I have called? part 2
Hey guys so this is the second hand that I played and I need your opinion on...
So I played this hand on a low stakes 20k pokerstars MTT. BLinds are at 150/300, I am on the button with KJ off. Cutoff min raises to 600..I contemplate whether or not I should 3bet the cutoff but then the SB and BB are both sharks/regs (both are ranked on pocket fives) so I thought maybe I should just call n see a flop (i wouldnt know what to do if I got 4bet by one of the sharks..looking back on it now I regret my decision)..flop comes king high with 3h2h and the bb (shark) donk bets less than half the pot..original raiser folds, sb folds n me n the bb r HU (at this point I feel like I might have the best hand, I felt like he might be donk betting somekind of combo draw like 45hh)...turn is the 4h, villain instantly barrels this time almost 2/3pot, I call...river is the Qh n again he fires a third barrel and I am forced to fold...so my question is should I have 3bet pre? n what will you guys call the bet on the turn??

River is a definite fold. By calling flop + turn you're assigning him a range consisting of a lot of draws and some of those hit.
I find the preflop spot a little easier than you. I don't mind the 3bet, tho it's nothing I would do most of the time. I'm calling here 9 out of 10 times. But I think it's good to have in your arsenal, so I don't mind it. If we get 4bet by one of the blinds (or the CO for that matter) it's an easy fold.
If you're coming into a hand on the button, it would be best to come in aggressive. Raise it pre-flop and fold to a re-raise.
I think just flatting preflop is fine. When creating a 3 bet range we preferably want it to be polarized (i.e. do it with nutted hands, or with air), and KJo is too weak to raise for value, and too strong to 3 bet as a bluff, so calling is the preferable option. Of course if you have some sort of read that the opponent calls a 3bet with a wide range OOP, then feel free to 3 bet, although I wouldn't rely on that option. Obviously if you were to 3 bet, and you face a 4 bet, then it would be a very easy fold.
As for calling the barrel on the turn, considering it was one of the sharks that double barreled, I think its fine to call in that spot. They could easily be double barreling here with an ace or a lesser flush/straight draw. However, if it was the original bettor, I would be more inclined to fold, as they are more likely to have a range which has you crushed (KQ+, set, A5, 55, flush etc).
Obviously, on the river, there is nothing you can do but fold.
players underrate the power of the Flat call in potision.
