Played in a charity donkament tonight...
I got a free ticket to a $60 charity tournament because my friend couldn't go. It included a free dinner as well, so I said what the heck and gave it a go. Just thought I'd share a few interesting hands that have little educational value.
1) Effective stacks around 40-50BB. 1 limper to me on the button with 97o. I limp behind, SB completes, BB who is a complete noob checks. Flop is T96 with 2 spades (I have no spade). Checked to me OTB, I bet half pot. SB folds, BB noob calls, CO folds. HU to the turn. Turn off-suit 9. BB checks, I bet again, he calls. River Q of spades making 3-flush and final board T969Q. BB goes all-in. I tank for 30 seconds then ask him if he hit the flush. He says "Nope, but I hit a full house" and flips over red 66's. LMAO WTF I didn't even call yet. I folded but then everyone at the table labeled me as the bad guy for exploiting a beginner and that set the tone for the night (along with a hand where I got cocky and showed a bluff after triple barreling 74o on a 965KJ flush draw board where villain mucked QJ with the missed flush draw)
2) 6-handed, blinds 200/400. Only decent player at the table minraises to 800. Guy to my right takes a long time and I can barely ever see his cards (Costco table FTL). I try to re-raise to 2000 with QQ in the SB. Turns out I acted out of turn and BTN hasn't acted yet. He folds. Back to me, but the entire table now says I have to call because I acted out of turn. Is this a rule? There was no tournament director it was a gong show. 5 against 1 so I didn't really have a say. Whatever, I call. BB calls. Flop is Q88 rainbow. I check, BB checks, PFR checks. Turn T. Checks around. River 7. I lead out for 2000, BB folds, PFR goes all-in for about 6000. I have him covered at 9000. I snap call and he shows 88.
3) Blinds are doubling every 15 minutes. It's now 400/800 and I'm down to about 4 big blinds. Folded to me in the SB with AJ suited. Obviously I go all-in. But what's this? BTN hasn't acted yet and I can't see his cards. AGAIN. What the F---. So they apply the same rule, I can only call, no raising allowed. Ok, so I call. Flop comes 962 and I put the rest in. BB snap calls with 64 offsuit and holds.
LoL donkaments
