PCA 2013 - First Live Tournament

Hi all,

First off, I would like to introduce myself. I am a 20 year old student living in America, and I play on merge/WPN and mainly live. I have not had too much success online, mainly due to BRM, but live I had a lot of success.

Within one hour of where I live, I can find multiple cash games ranging from 5c/10c to 5/5$ and 10/20 limit. Currently I am tackling the nearby 50c/1$ game where I have been a consistent winner. I started off short rolled and this semester, I have been playing 1-2 x a week and now have a roll of 5k dedicated to poker.

This January, my family and I will be going to the Bahamas, and coincidently the PCA will be held. The last few years, I have been watching all the videos from Galen Hall's Main Event win, to Isildurs super high roller victory. Although I am pretty underolled for the bigger tournaments. I was wondering if anyone knew of some good value tournaments I could play while I am there?

Besides the home game tournaments I play ranging from 20-100$, I have never been able to play any legitimate tournaments due to my age. I am wondering if anyone could give me pointers on what to expect?

There will be a few $1000 tournaments that you could take a shot in if you were so inclined, but I'm not sure these fall within your bankroll management. There is a full schedule of side events on the PCA website.

I was thinking taking a shot at one of the 1k tournaments. And play in 1 or 2 of the 300$. For me I dont mind taking these shots since Ill just be grinding the same stakes till about summer so I can rebuild. I was wondering if the 300$ turbos are really just crapshoots or are they decent tournaments to play?

I haven't played Pca In a while but from what I recall the structures are very good. Take a shot or two. Good luck
