Hi guys,
Felt like I made a really nitty fold today and would like some opinions. It's a $5.50 tournament on stars, not in the money yet but I'm currently in a strong position to cash.
At the time neither of the other players in the hand had 3 bet any hands pre although I hadn't played many hands with them. I have been fairly active but not overly so.
My thoughts were that they should giving me credit for a utg raise and 3 betting light at these stakes isn't that common in general. I wanted to preserve my stack rather than risk half of it in a flip or be totally dominated.
It felt pretty gross to fold but any input would be appreciated.

I think it's a pretty easy fold pre-antes and fairy readless. Don't feel bad if you saw hands you flipped vs. or were slightly ahead of. I think more times than not one of them has you pretty crushed.
HJ shouldn't be 3 betting worse pairs like ever, ever, ever.
Yeah possibly I was a little tilted seeing AQo, AKo get flipped over. Small consideration but it wasn't actually pre-antes I know it isn't clear from the HH it was 60/120/15.
QQ is obviously a clear reshove, how do you feel about JJ?
It's not like AK and AQ demonstrate wide ranges so I guess you got it right. Readless you used to need QQ, now I think it's probably JJ and depending on villains I could see TT being reasonable in a Stars $5.
As mentioned not worth losing sleep over, Button cold 4bs and it's a $5 mtt, maybe he turns over AK or something but I just fold this. How much eq difference can there be between JJ and QQ here. I probably fold Aqo and JJ myself and lose very little sleep against a cold 4b. He ships a 20bb stack so might be a little lighter but really how much? Also there is a player to act so hard to widen our calling range correct?
We have twice every one in position and cover the guy on our right, I probably fold, and just steal all day on future orbits with a great 3b stack.
yup. I agree, sometimes you need to make these types of fold. it's pretty gross but as mentioned by rukidme, there will be some better spots to get your money in later ;)
good fold, dont see a problem folding jj either. i think if i had jj i fold here just because his range for 4bing isnt going to contain a lot of hands we crush. were at best racing or beating a 4b with tt which is the botttom of the range. qq+ ak is prolly only hands i consider here unless info i collected directed me otherwise.
In this sequence, the times you are doing a 5bet Allin, HJ would have a narrow range to do profitable call with QQ+ vs 2 allin players, with the risks of be eliminated in an early stage without antes. So the times you are shoving and HJ calls, you will play a spot vs the narrow HJ range plus BTN 4betshove range. It´s easy to see that most of this times your hand will be dominated, at least, by one of the other ones.
And the times HJ folds, I think you will be facing a BTN range of 88+,AQ+ and vs this range, you´ll have only 47% of equity. Not bad in some stages of the tournament, nearly a flip, but if you think in the narrow of the ranges in this stage, and the possibility to play vs 2 ranges, an or/fold will be the best choice most of the times.
QQ+ seems right, good fold.
In a $5 tourny, I'd stuff it.
