Midstage 55$ 99 pre against a good reg

UTG1: 5134
LJ: 10045 (Hero)
HJ: 13585
CO: 6156
BN: 14336
SB: 4765
BB: 3630
UTG: 15740
Preflop (300) (8 Players)
Hero was dealt 9 9
UTG folds, UTG1 folds, Hero raises to 445, HJ calls 445, CO raises to 1490, BN calls 1490, SB folds, BB folds
Villain (CO) is a competent MTT reg. I got 567 hands of him with the following stats:
Vpip: 16 %
PFR: 14 %
3-bet total: 7 %
3-bet total in CO: 6 %
IP 3-bet vs MP: 6 %
I'm really not sure what I should do here when the action comes back to me. CO's 3-bet looks so standard and he is probably doing it with a wider range here since it's such a good spot with the HJ calling here. I'm also not really sure with what the BU is calling here who is quite a big fish (34/3). But I'm pretty sure that I'm ahead of his overcalling range. But I'm still not sure about the CO. What do you think? What would you do? My image at the table must have been quite reasonable, though I have been active in earlier hands and folded to a 3-bet when I opened UTG+1 against another player in MP.

I think its more of a question of 4 betting, or flatting. You are getting great odds to set mine as your effective stack against the Villain is very deep, with the notion of the bb calling and the hj behind yet to call, i think you should just call here. You have plenty of odds to hit a set, and I don't think the villain will get out of line on the flop w/ 2-3 callers.

I believe its better to call rather then 4bet/fold
