Large 3b jams on final tables

I've noticed when watching high stakes FTs that the really good players are 3bj over 50bb eff in certain spots. The two examples I can think of are Apoth in 25k SCOOP.

Is this because Apoth doesn't have a small 3bet range due to ICM? My thinking was have small3b range of JJ+/AK balancing with maybe with some hands too weak to flat but with good removal, i.e. A4o and A5o.

The second one I found on a high stakes MTT board and could see any good reason for this, especially with 22.

First post so apologies if this should go somewhere else!
