HPT $1650 Main Event ITM 17 left~111k up top

I've dwindled down to 265k(16.5bbs) and currently gtd 5.1k.  MP 800k(50bbs) is aggro pro Ari Engel and has been  very active. Blinds are currently 8k/16k with a 2k ante. My image as of late has been pretty tight as a result of running pretty card dead for a few rounds and haven't found any spots to jam. Anyways MP Ari opens to 34k folds to my button I jam my AQo for (16.5bbs)265k. SB 750k(47bbs) My question is what should be the SB cold calling range here? Also blinds are going up shortly in around 15 mins at 1 hour levels. I'm one of the shortest stacks and 3 places from a $1600 prize jump.

Usualy when sb coldcalls in such a spot i would probably already shake his hand and say GG.

with Ari opening SB should have a wider calling range because your shoving range should be wider. my range would be something like 88 99 AQs and maybe flat premiums once in a awhile hoping Ari actually has a hand

I figured his calling range 99 would be bottom of the range TT+ snap call and something like Aq off being a call and Ak fistpump call.

You haven't really supplied any reads about the SB. A pro's cc3b range here and a recreational players's cc3b range here would differ.

At the very least SB is given himself three options:

Call and fold to MP 4b shove

Call and call MP 4b shove

Call and play a pot OOP if MP decides to call too

AND as such SB didn't want to shove himself either because he is trapping or legitimately concerned about MP having a strong hand and planning to fold to further action.

I'm expecting him to re-shove AK/AQ some of the time as well as his value hands JJ+, i've seen TT re-shove in this spot too, so to me his cc3b is JJ/TT/99 OR Trapping with AA/KK

Isn't the question here what SHOULD the sb call with? Why would we want to speculate what an unkown sb would be calling with..

I'm piecing together the hand as i see it but yes the OP wanted to know what an optimal cold calling range might be here. The reason i like to present the different 'branches' or lines is that even when we don't get a precise range we could necessarily find a line that is best given our other options. But enough of all this, let me finally try tackle the real question posed here:

What should a SB cold calling range be given a loose minraise open and a 3bet shove from a player that understands that its a good spot for him to shove and pick up chips given the loose open.

It still perplexes me why he flats when he could shove and even fold out some better hands or hands doing well versus his exact hand but poorly versus his range

Okay:

SB has immediate pot odds of (some approximations but i feels its close enough): Calls 16bb to win 21bb (16.5 BTN shove +2 MP open +2.5 blinds and antes) 16/(16+21)= 43.24% (1.31:1 odds)

If i give you a shoving range of 44+ AT+ AJs KQs then without including BB and MP action we have: AQ+ 77+

Tempted with possible fold equity and plenty of chips to play for let us give BB or MP QQ+ AK, are we commited to call? after cold calling the 3bet?

SB has 30bb left, 30bb to win 82bb (2.5 blinds and antes+ 16.5 x 3 + 30 on top shove amount that's left in our stack) 26.79% versus QQ+ AK we committed with our entire flatting range

If we only give villain QQ+(JJ+)? Sb calls with KK+ AQs (QQ+ AQ+) from his call 3bet range. He would call with KK+ AK+ (QQ+ AQ+ KQs)  and all Axx - if he did so happen to call with those AXx hands and possibly KQS if we lumped those into his calling range initially.

So:

SB can flat 77+ AQ+ and be committed to further action if villain's at least include AK in their stack off ranges 50bb deep. SB can flat and then fold to a cold 4bet shove or shove from MP if he feels their 4bet range is very narrow QQ+ (JJ+)

I haven't delved into the possibility of MP flatting and i'm not sure how to. maybe a few graphs range versus range and some possible dead cards for BTN perhaps?

I hope this helps

He's probably second most aggro after Ari and then I'd be third at this table but been playing solid since I've been handcuffed with my stack and spots.

Thanks Daz. That maps it out pretty well for me. Anyways got called by SB with 66 vs my AQ and brick. I assumed it to be pretty bad but I wasn't sure. So 66 is just barely out of range for the SB cold call? You'd call it off with 77? Thanks for helping.
