Soon as the board paired my gut was to play this cautiously. Day 2 of a mini-WCOOP, about 250 runners left. Virtually no stats on the villain, but OPR shows he won the milly once but not much else apart from that.

By the time I got to the the river I reasoned his range was mostly Ax, not including A8 or A6 (he called the turn rr v quickly, didn't take any time to consider options), and some fl draws (plenty of fish in this tourney). My thoughts were I'm getting called by a big part of his range that is just trips or flushes, while sometimes (this time) getting called by a higher house.

Alternatively given my entire stack was at risk, and I had an above average stack this late in a big tourney (big for me, 11k up top), I think I maybe should have just check called all the way. Thoughts? Am I thinking too tight here?
