Heads up against a poor player
Trying out this forum for the first time / first post. :)
Playing an online MTT recently and got to the final two, heads up against a fairly poor player, who was easy to play against post flop. Got to a situation for a while where I had about 25/30BB and they had between 10-15BB. I was raising and then folding fairly tightly when they shoved over the top of me. Usually I would think folding here is bad against a good player, but I felt that getting it all in pre with a hand like a weak Ace or small pair was not the best play when I could wait for better situations and, in the meantime, chip away at their stack (they limped a lot and then folded when I bet post flop). When I am the short stack I am happy to take the flip but as the big stack, losing an all in here would put us back to level stacks, which I thought could easily be avoided and was unnecessary.
I just wondered what others think of this and whether my thinking is way off here. My heads up strategy is still a little shabby so happy to take some pointers.
Cheers :)
