I think it's very difficult to bluff someone off of a hand thats better than ours here. Do AT or AJ fold? Maybe. He'd have to get there with something like 66 or K4, A4. He never folds a Q and probably not a 9 either. Had he bet I would strongly consider calling as he's really inclined to bluff that river with a hand like K8 that is just not going to win at showdown often enough. Check back and I think we win it enough.
I've heard this before but why we assume he never folds a Q? Cant he put us on a flush?
He can't put us on a big flush because we wouldn't really want to play a big flush like this. First off, with a big club draw, we bluff raise the flop some of the time at the very least. The only hands that we really have by the river are a few flushes (JT, 65, KT, etc...) and middling ace high hands that we thought was best and decided to call down on a board thats difficult to connect with.
So now that we have this information, why does he never fold a Q? Because it would be wrong to. He's so far up in his range and is ahead of so much of ours that with this stack depth, he is always getting the odds he needs to call. The same holds true for the 9 because we really don't have any hands that the Q beats but the 9 loses to.
What type of player is bb? Why do you just flat pre instead of raising him? What range did you put him on pre?
he is a reg but kinda weak if i remember correctly. I use to always 3b this now i always flat. The only reason i guess is cause instructors i watch do this. I think he opens 40-50%
You should never always do anything. You should adjust your play vs the player. What is his steal percent when folded to him? If he has a high steal percent a 3bet is fine unless he never folds to a 3bet. I would rather call or 3-bet with A5ss because you have more equity plus blockers (A). A5o is just a weak hand to play oop. Why did you c/c his flop bet? I don't mind a c/f on that flop. We have little equity to continue. It may sound like a weak play but we aren't burning chips. Because we have position on him the majority of the time there are going to be better spots for us to extract value.
