cbetting 3bet/4bet pots

In tournaments im curious as to what sizing other players are using when cbetting flops in 3bet/4bet pots. What i mean is if your sizing of your cbet is different from a regular opened pot when the pot has been 3 or 4 bet. For example Blinds 1/200 you open to 600 and get both blinds to call Pot:$1800 check to you your cbetting 2/3 so your cbet is 1200 now how about in a 3bet pot obviously situation dependent player dependent etc etc im not trying to get in that deep with my question but are you cbetting roughly the same % of the pot as you are in non 3bet/4bet pots? This is a tough one for me to explain but i really think its an interesting question. why why not etc etc let me hear it!

In general I am cbetting smaller in 3 and 4bet pots, and I do so for several reasons.

First, stack to pot ratio is much smaller in these spots, than in single raised pots. This means that it is much easier to get stacks in with smaller bets, and therefore unnecessary make bigger bets.

Second, opponents are much more likely to play fit or fold postflop in 3 and 4bet pots, and less likely to check/raise bluff or float. This is because the smaller stack to pot ratio gives them less room to make moves postflop, a failed check/raise bluff would often cost them a very large portion of their stack . As a result, a smaller cbet is just as effective as a larger one.

My cbet sizing is also dependent on board texture, I cbet bigger on wetter boards.

Yeah those points make sense to me I do the same. Would you say you keep your bluff cbets in 3/4b pots on the smaller side majority of the time?

Yes I am generally cbetting small with both my bluffs and value hands, although against fish this may not be the case since I believe they are going to be less likely to pick up on sizing tells.

To reiterate Grayson we should be adapting our sizing to each situation always. It is of course good while learning the game, to learn a std. type sizing for each spot. But to truly exploit players maximally we have to be able to play non std in any given spot.

anyway nowadays the trend is to cbet smaller and smaller not like 2/3 pot but more like 40-50% and even less than that in 3bet pots
