I have doubts with this hand. Not sure if it is best to shove directly, pay or 3bet/fold. The Open Raiser is 34/28 in 480 hands.

Jam pre, dont overthink too much. 3bet folding with your stack is suicide, flatting is horrible given u play oop post. Versus his stats its an easy get in..
I'm shoving here as CairyHunts said just because you don't want to play OOP with AJs. I would have the options like this Shove > 3b/C > C > ............... > 3b/f. 3b/f is the absolute worst play you can do here putting in somewhere around 1/4 of your stack.
Lets talk about how this hand went down after we called.
Ks8s8d. If viilian hit this board he isn't folding to our shove. If he has a pocket pair we are a favorite. If he has anything else we are a monster favorite. Most of the time he doesn't have anything on this board.
So, why shove? What about c/r to 500k? This offers us just about the same fold equity and a chance to bluff with air to 500k with some of our range. Maybe he even folds 99 to a 500k flop, 900k turn bet. Maybe he makes a huge error and calls flop with K5 and folds turn? Maybe we get him to jam flop with some of his no value air?
Also, calling isn't half bad either. If our oppenent didn't hit this flop, there really aren't any turn cards he can value bet. We could c/shove turn and possibly collect more bluff equity. I don't really like calling that much but went comparing all the outcomes to just shoving the flop is seems pretty decent.
Lastly, consider how AJs on a flop like this would work with the rest of your hands. We can't really c/shove that often on this flop. Doing something other than smashing the all in button makes it easier to balance the rest of our range in these situations and thusly become a tougher overall player.
Justin, this is a fantastic post. I really like the way you're thinking about this. Following your logic, it leads me to want to flat much more than x/r small to like 500k. I think this works well with the rest of our range KQ -KTs. And your points about how villains range responds to our action on this board are awesome.
I would shove preflop, but if I got to the flop this way, I'd ch/call.
i am leaning towards shoving pre. as played i dont hate the shove otf bc i think you get a lot of calls from Kx and i thin ka majority of the time you A is an out which is key
Justin nailed this in his post above. If we get to postflop, Id play this spot as he suggested.
My ranking of our options: Shove PF > flatting > 3b call > fold > 3b/fold.
We're going to get many many folds by shoving preflop - he is raising so wide. Plus, our hand is very strong. It has equity when called, and blocks the strongest hands in his range (reduces the number of possible combination of his AA, AK, etc).
