77 spot with 15 left in sunday million
A friend of mine wanted me to post this hand for discussion.
He is 11/15 place in the sunday million and has just been moved to this table and
he has no reads on this opponent.
Hero has 18,5bb in the Big Blind. And gets 77.
What to do?
(My friend wants to stay anonymous with his nickname in the thread)

Facing a 3x open with no info, I'd just fold at this stage of the tournament. Vilain is likely to be fishy, and usually won't raise/fold vs a 18bb stack. I think it's better to let it go and see what's really going on at the table.
I actually finished 25th in this sunday million, thus played a fair bit with our chinese friend that is opening here.
i can tell you that vs this villain shoving pre was super + EV.
This guy was so far out of line it was ridiculous.
Anyway, I'm not exactly sure what to do in this spot in general as I don't play tourneys often enough. Someone else is going to have to chime in with that info>
I'm mostly posting this in case you happened to jam and run into Kings and felt really awful about it- don't worry, I'd have shoved to-.
haha my friend sends his kind regards Apo and says he is relieved now that the chinese-monkey is confirmed :)
Now he can sleep at night again;P
(The 77 ran into his TT)
But I would love if someone chimed in here and told me if 77 is maybe a clear fold vs an unknown here (due to ICM issues) or if it's a shove? And if it isn't a shove, then what is a shove? 99?
(I don't have the payout here but it was a standard sunday million payout I guess)
I do think this would be a fairly standard fold due to ICM, stack size of Villian (he won't fold lots of his broadway hands that smaller stacks would), bet sizing and position.
Had this been a 7M stack betting 34k pre from the HJ, it would be an easy shove with 77. There are just much better spots for you then to get reckless and take the wrong stand with a mid/small pp against him.
Meant 340k lol
I would definitly shove. Would he bet 3x with QQ+? I don't think so. He could raise 3x with many hands (including 88,99,TT,KTs,KJ,KQ,A8,A9, Ax..) that i think he would fold. From his range that he raises 3x and could call, i think there is AQ, AQs, JJ. So, i think its a very good move to shove. It also gives a message that you will defend your bb...
Looks like a prettt easy fold vs HJ . Depends what is prf is. When he 3× that often means vulnerable range so i can see why he shoved. But im pretty sure if you run the math in icemizer its a fold.
