Dealt to Hero [ Kc Ah ]
UTG+1 limps
Folds to me and I don't want to play AK OP so I put in a big raise of 875, villain plays a lot of hand
UTG+1 3 bets [2750] Pot 4475
Twice earlier this evening villains have limped early position with premium pairs and shoved over raises so I'm wary because it looks very trappy. But with AK and getting those odds I call.
Flop 10 Q 4
villain shoves
I have to fold. I feel like I got jerked around on this hand and not sure I didn't fold the best hand. Should I have just called to see a flop or made a smaller raise? I did end up at the FT with him later and outlasted him to take third but he made a few plays like this. He would limp into a pot op and check the flop. If the opponent made a small turn bet he would either throw in a big raise which usually got a fold with everyone playing pretty tight or just call and then blast the river. The plays got pretty obvious but even when you know what he's doing it's hard to fight back especially at the FT because of ICM

Did this villain limp with AA twice before? It happens at low stakes but people also limp with a wider range. It's the micros people do a wide array of questionable things. It's good you are picking up on some of them and trying to figure out what is what. Let's not overthink things though.
I hate stats as a way to discuss hands (I think it limits your growth as a player at the lower stakes) but this guys limps a bit much. Also answer this question for me why don't we wan to play AK OOP?
Stacks aren't that big and most likely this guy wants to see flop. We have to plan the hand out before we make our decision. We can't just raise big pre cause we don't want to play the hand and we have a premium so we should want to play the hand right now. I'll respond a bit more later.
I went and checked back over the HH and he was on a bit of a heater earlier showing down some nut hands.....he was aggressive and sticky and won a lot of non SD hands by betting. A few times he showed down semi-bluffs but I knew he would try to push me out of the hand if I tried to check it down. Really wide opening range and very aggressive post flop
Using stats in the micros might not be that useful but I want to learn how to use them effectively because I want to move up to mid stakes. Still playing 85% micros to balance the variance and because I'm not rolled to move up 100% yet. Once I have a few more large cashes I will be able to sustain the higher buy ins
I think I didn't want to let him into the hand IP cheap with his wide range and let him outflop or outplay me which is exactly what happened. I guess I just made it more expensive for myself lol
I don't mind your raise sizing and think you have the right idea about wanting to raise a bit more OOP. Now i agree villian UTG1 limp reraise looks really strong. However unless we've seen him do this with AA, KK exactly I think his range is gonna be much wider for that. Lots of pocket pairs show up in this spot maybe even come suited connecters. But we can't range him just on AA, KK and those are the only two hands we don't want to see here.
When he makes that move we are roughly 30ish bb effective and given the strength on our hand I don't mind just shoving and getting it all in. We have the top of our range and need to be playing this hand very aggressive at this point. Calling is the worst option.
ICM I guess should be considered but at these stakes the jumps are so small I don't personally care if I ladder one point in this small an MTT. I'm going for a win.
One note about post flop. When the villain shoves there I think we can make the call. its a pretty good flop for our hand and there is so much money in the pot as played. We have outs if he has a hand and sometimes he missed and is trying to steal the pot and we are ahead or chopping.
Thank you for this....so you would call a shove with just overcards and a gutter....or just against this guy? Say he did have a small pair...we would have 12 outs for 48%. If he has a Q maybe just 8 outs. I see shoving pre flop against his 3 bet but I'm having trouble with the call. There was 11,216 in the pot after he shoved and I had just over 6,000 back. I guess the pot odds are still there
I shark scoped him and hes just terrible so you can't really apply logic to his moves. He just went on an early heater built up a stack and is pushing people around. I played 2 years of mtt poker already wo a hud and I want to utilise it to it's fullest because it is an aid especially against regs. I'll keep watching the videos and see how some pros use the stats to help - although yesterday I realised the stats weren't even lined up with the right players on one table lol. That wouldn't help at all
Oops, got my villains mixed up but this guy had almost identical stats
This guy went out later by limping 33 from the button and shoving 31BB over a min raise from the SB, call by BB
