$400 live MTT- 3 streets of value?
Soft field here and it's early at bb300 with 20k starting stacks. I start the hand with about 23k. Villain1 is sb seems slightly fishy, villain2 in mp just sat one hand ago but played it seemingly fast and loose and won it (no showdown). He was a middle aged euro guy, had a degen look about him if that means anything (like a craps player look lol not a poker player).
Hero in BB with 8h8c (23k)
Villain 2 limps mp (35k)
Villain 1 limps sb (18k)
Hero checks bb
Flop 8s7s3d
Villain1 bets out 700
Hero?
I raised to 1800. This board is too wet to flat IMO. I like a raise for value, protection, and to potentially set up fireworks vs a big draw that wants to put in another bet,
Villain2 snap calls the 1800 without blinking.
Villain 1 calls also.
Pot ~ 8400
Turn 4d
Villain 1 checks
Hero?
I dont love this card as it completes the straight with 56 but that seems unlikely. It was a limped pot yes, but the flop action doesn't look like either player has it. Checking seems terrible given how many draws are still available so I'm betting. Thoughts?
Hero bets 5k
Villain 2 calls pretty quickly (didnt snap like before, paused maybe 5-8 secs after confirming the amount with the dealer).
Villain 1 folds
Pot ~18,400
River Qd
Hero?
My stack is now 16k. Still a bit concerned about 56. Backdoor flush draw just came in also. There are still value hands we beat like 87, 99, 1010 (yes these bad live players will limp those hands) QsXs, and obviously we're beating missed draws. Tough spot I can't decide what is best here. I think betting for value is correct especially with this guy seeming loose. Checking misses too much value IMO, but there are now more hands that beat us with the flush coming in.
