HJ is CL and raising a lot at this FT probably over 50% and getting folds. SB is LAG but BB is really tight
Preflop
(7500)
(6 Players)
Hero was dealt
A
J
UTG folds, HJ raises to 10000, CO folds, Hero raises to 35000, SB raises to 79522

SB knows HJ is probably light and he knows that I will probably 3 bet with any reasonable hand given the dynamics of this table. I think he probably has a good hand but he may think I'm light too and I don't think I can fold getting these odds. I think he would push with most pairs and probably all good As so at best I'm flipping....still getting 2.3:1

For this price you can't fold! If HJ opens to 10k I would do make on maximum 24000 as a 3bet.
Not sure we wanna put close to half our stack pre with a marginal hand that doesn`t flop well.Villain is obvi aggro from OP`s read and has nice leverage postflop with huge stack.Calling suited.
Agree with sizing, no need to go bigger then 2.2 - 2.4x.Kinda telegraphing you just want him to fold here.
SB is jamming prince, doesn't matter much. If HJ rejams is a fold but if he folds this is easiest call ever
Lol sorry was looking from the phone 1st time, thought HJ 4b and you was advocating calling 4b.
Yeah, can`t fold as played.
Both of you hit it on the head..... it was a good 3 bet spot but the sizing was all off...I think I was afraid that he would just call with his wide weak range but just put me to the test on any non A high flop as he had been using his stack to bully everyone......then because my sizing was too large I had priced myself in to call the SB shove. So just a general lack of situational awareness
I lost a big chunk of my stack as SB had QQ
I´ll 3bet something like 24444 and not folding to LAG SB shove
As played, you can´t really fold
What's the plan pre? Are you 3b/c a shove vs HJ? 3b/5b shoving vs HJ?
To me this seems like a slam dunk flat on the button and calling off the blinds if they shove.
Agree with John here. Hand plays just fine as a flat, it's a disaster to bust here as second in chips, so why up the variance with a 3bet?
The optimal play here for our range is to have a wide flating range and a narrow 3bet range given stacksizes/position ICM wise.
Agree with John and nhilathak, but as played sizing is definitely too large. Considering all this, lessons to be learnt is to pay more attention to players left to act when 3betting, what to do if villain 4bets, as well as paying more attention to ICM.
