18 left double deuce awkward preflop spot with 88 facing 3b from CL

Just got moved to this table and it's the final 18 of the double deuce ($13k uptop, soft field). I feel like this is a spot where, from my past of watching high stakes mtt training videos, I play too aggressively.
Since I just got moved to this table, my only read on the button is that he is is 3rd in chips, is from the Netherlands, and has seen me 3b the CO from the btn first hand at this table.
Another problem/bad habit I have in these spots I feel is I don't hit the timebank and really think through my options, I feel like my thought process is too rapidly "He's Dutch, he's got a big stack and he's 3betting me on the button, I got 88 I have to go with it here because he's gonna be light enough of the time"...but having 36bbs deep in a soft $22 tourney with 13k uptop is definitely significant.
What is a better option here, flatting the 3b, or 4b jam? I really think folding is just too weak, but I also hate flatting because we're check/folding most flops or calling flop folding turn. Not sure if I'm overthinking this spot or not but I just feel like it's a high variance spot to take with 36bbs in such a soft tourney.
