$150 live MTT - QQ: fold, shove pre or shove on the flop?
Playing live $150 MTT in Seminole Hard Rock, 60 left out of ~200, 27 paid and top 10 also get extra $360 seat in the SHR open.
Both hero (UTG) and villain (UTG+3) have ~27 bb, pretty close to the average stack size.
Hero has QQ utg, and opens for 2.5 bb.
Fold, fold, villain 3-bets 8 bb, fold, fold, fold, short stack in sb calls all-in for 7 bb, fold.
Now, the villain is a straightforward TAG-ish player, and he remarked before that I appear to play tight and show real hands. Him 3-betting me looks pretty strong. At this table, it's probably AA, KK, AK and maybe AQs. On the other hand, there is some extra money in the pot.
So, hero's options are:
(1) fold, and still have about 25 bb.
(2) 4-bet shove, he is pretty certain to call it. QQ has 39 to 42% equity against his range, if it is really that strong.
(3) call, and if the flop comes below queens, shove on the flop. QQ would have about 50% equity + extra money in the pot.
What would be the preferred play here?
Results: I shove, he calls with AKo and gets his A on the river (sb
had TT, flop was 998).
