Hey guys,
I have been a profitable micro stakes grinder actively since about 6 months and have been a member of RIO for only a month. This is my first post in the forum on a spot I am really not sure about.
Things you might want to know: Villain 41/12 on 34 hands has been limping alot and never came to showdown with his hands. The 1st & only hand I have seen was a 6x open from villain in MP which was overshoved and he showed 99.
To the hand: Villain limps and I hold ATo in the HJ, knowing I am ahead of villians limping range I continued to raise to 3bb (too small?), everybody folds and villain continues to call. Flop comes 6d7c9s, villain checks and i continue small for around 1/3 pot, villain calls. the turn brings the 8d. Villain checks and I continues for roughly 45% pot, villain calls. River is the 6c. Villain tanks and decides to shove all in, I have 32k behind and there is a 36k pot in the middle.
My thoughts: Since I have only seen villain raise 99 very big and limping otherwise I assumed he would only open raise his pairs (99+?), ATo+, A9s+, KTs+, KJo+, QJs. The 8d on the turn giving me the straight was the nut card for me. In retrospect I think I could have found the fold button since, with the logic above, he would be limping pairs smaller than 99 and also alot of suited connectors like JTs, T9s, 76s, 86s. What do you guys think? Did I completely overplay the hand and this was a definite fold? I'm still a learning player and would love to hear your opinions.
Thanks in advance!

You should iso pre higher. I like 3x here, since he almost always has a worse hand than you have. I also bet the flop higher as played. And from turn on get it in anyhow. As played I call too obv.
I actually did 3x to iso PF. Question is if it's better to iso to around 3.5-4x. I could cbet a bit higher but I think the flop hits his limping range quite a bit. Therefore I decided to go smaller on that street. Thanks for your thoughts!
Im sorry. Just misread. I think the hand is pretty well played. If you bet 40 or 45% is just not that important.
Hi I am probably not as good as you but against a player like that comfortable that my range is ahead of his i would pot bet the flop! It may have made the difference but good chance he would have called anyway given his fishy tendencies
if you are going to raise pre i'd raise 3x the BB then +1 for every limper. in this case 4x at least looks good to me. unsure with so many to act behind though if ATo is too loose?
My take: Minimum 3.5x PF. You should probably tack on limp bets to the 3.5x PF bet raise, too. Check the turn and reevaluate on the river since you don't have the nuts and TJs is within lower-half of MP range. Were his cards suited? That would add a flush draw on the turn, too.
Personally I wouldn't cbet this flop, hits his limp calling range quite hard IMO
