WSOP: Slightly above average final 13 in 10k 6max. Edited version
Im not really looking forward to the live stream of the final table of the 10k 6max tonight, and I suspect I am not alone in that regard.
Pretty horrible lineup atm, Max Silver, Hiren Patel, George Danzer, Joe Cada, Jeremy Ausmus, JC Tran, Scott Clements, Layne Flack and Erick Lindgren.
This most certainly cant be called a fantasy draft?
Which one of these mtt randoms do you think captures the bracelet? My money is on Flack! Would make for a lame story imo.
Edited to follow GameTheory`s manual on how to grade a WSOP 10k field.

I wouldn't call this a 'fantasy draft', the quality of these 13 remaining players isn't significantly above the field of 264. Apart from JC Tran, these players are not the sicko's that play $100k+ MTT's or are in the top 20 of the all time money list.
For instance if you take numbers 58-65:
Or numbers 141-153:
I would prefer to watch a final table with either group of players over the current 13.
No disrespect to any player (in or out of either of these categories) - neither getting into the all time money list or playing a $100K is an indicator of current ability - the whole ranking system, various player of the year awards and stuff is entertaining and that's about it imo.
Of course winning the WSOP ME or the One drop is good for your position on the all time money list, but even if you don't cancel those out, the top of the list is more famous than the middle.
And considering most players in $100k+ MTT's sell a large part of their action, if you are truely the sickest player your peers will be lining up to back you.
I would perhaps prefer hypothetical table 1 to the actual one, hypothetical 2 is just the same or worse than the original imo. Table 1 has all the well known intriguing personal stories and interesting characters (at the same time alot of skilled players), while your second table is prett boring regards to stories and entertainment value.
Looking forward to maxsilver.tv - go goodeh!!
I don't particularly agree that playing $100K SNGs where most don't have anywhere near their own action really proves anything in terms of being a "sick" MTT player, no matter how tough the field(and some of them actually are sick and win real MTTs). It makes you a good SNG player though. Agree that there could be much better line ups.
GT: OFC one could most certainly find a better / sicker last 13 in regards to pure poker skills, but if we compare these players to a regular WSOP event final 13, the "starpower" alone will make for interesting TV imo. Its not all that often that almost all players of a 9handed FT is some sort of a community household name. At the same time, there are many interesting and well known stories with these players. Trans last year at FT of ME, Layne Flack, Lindgrens depths etc. Theres also a good mix of the "old garde" and newish younger regs. But if you dont like it, thats alright. I surely do :)
Edit: I would have made room for ballin Marafioti for spicing it up though :PCompared to a random $1500 WSOP this final table this final table has a lot of 'starpower'.
But this is a $10k, if we look at the final 13 of the other $10k+ NL WSOP event you will see much more 'starspower':
And of course the $10k razz had an epic HU between Hellmuth and Forrest.
Being objective, I guess youre !correct as usual GT. I cave. However, whats the point in arguing over what clearly is my opinion and nothing ells. Im sure there was others watching thinking it was a good line up as well. I actually fell asleep before it started. Hehe. I was working 12 hours yesterday when I createad the thread, I had 4 one hour lessons for groups of golfers that couldnt hit one ball scheduled for after closing up shop, including one containing twelve 3-6 year olds. I had to find something to look forward to, to get through the late part of the day.
!A big lolout. My pick flack was obv eliminated after 10 minutes of play.
That HU match was the greatest to rail... I didn't sleep that night.
I don't see Dario Sammartino in the list, he ended in 6th. I was hoping for an italian bracelet. He destroyed HS cash game tables on .it and is one of the best italian mtt players with Lasagnammmm (Mustapha Kanit). Sick :(
Any player or RIO user knows him?

Thanks for sharing all your wisdom with me, GT! #!#$%"GT= Ike Haxton, at least we're all convinced it is.
Haha, I like that you changed the first post. A little bit of sarcasm, no?
And I would call this final table (slightly) above average given the field.
Tiny bit of sarcasm, perhaps. Idiot
