When you became pro, what aspects of the lifestyle have you underestimated/overestimated?
More questions that could help develop your answer:
How have you dealt with the underestimation/overestimation?
How would you rate your financial planning in hindsight?
How did you approach becoming a professional: was it a passion project and/or a lucractive business idea?

I definitely underestimated the value of having structure at the beginning. Poker provides you with a lot of freedom and very little structure. Not needing to use an alarm clock is a luxury but can also make things more difficult.
Regarding finances, I think a lot of people go pro too early. It's hard to build a bankroll and move up at stakes when a big portion of your earnings go to living expenses each month. It's also very stressful.
Self-discipline really does go a long way.
Ok regarding finances that's interesting, I take it that it would be better for aspiring pros to save up as though they are going to open a new business.

Sitting at a desk for 10 hours a day will begin to break your body down. Be sure not to neglect your body. Exercise, stretch regularly, do yoga, etc... Spend that extra money on a good computer, desk, chair setup.
