What Do You Think?

Hey guys.

Just curious to know what you all think about playing a particular hand pre-flop, and post-flop. The hand I seem to be playing a lot lately is Ace/Rag suited. I've read in the past that playing any type of Ace/Rag is a waste of time and money, and your best to just fold it pre-flop. When it is Ace/Rag suited though, I tend to only limp in if all of the other players have limped in as well, hoping to catch a draw on the flop, or better yet, make a flush on the flop. My question is, should I even bother playing this type of hand because sometimes it happens not to work out in my favor. It just seems like a waste of money because there's times when I'm just chasing a draw. I did happen to think that possibly playing Ace/Rag suited in late position would be more profitable if everyone chooses to limp in before me. Still not sure though. Any advice or feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I think Ace Rag is a great hand for bluffing. If you have like A4o for example the hands pair value is pretty low, I mean it can make some mystery straights but really this hands strength is the Ace blocker. On the occasions you take your bluff to the river sometimes A high can beat out their missed draws. I definitely think you should start thinking about Ace rag as a blocker and not compare it to AT+ hands.

When deep stacked I'd play a suited Ace rag hand similar to a small pair. I'm not going to call down 3 big barrels with just a pair so I'm looking to make 2 pair or a flush and I'm happy to move on if I reach the turn and the board isn't too favorable.

Later on I use Ace rag hands as 3 bet bluff hands in some spots and an open as a steal in many other spots.

It's definitely not a hand to fold with total disregard - it has its merits.
