Variance and standard deviation.
Hello, if any of you guys could help i would really appreciate it.
How would you go about estimating the variance on your results?
Is standard deviation an accurate representation of your variance? As far as i understand it just shows the magnitude not the direction of the deviation doesn't it? I mean, if your deviation is big enough today relative to your average one you know your results are due to variance more than your play but you don't know whther you got lucky or not? How is it calculated? Does it take into account only all-in EV?
If i want to estimate the effect of variance i can go through every hand and assign a number of 1 to 5 or 1 to 10 whether i got lucky or not. 1- very unlucky, 5 - standard, 10 - very lucky. Then i can sum it up and divide by the number of hands scrolled through. Is this gonna be an efficient method of determining the effect of variance on my short-term results?
What is a "normal" standard deviation for 6-max plo? Mine is 200 bb/100 as shown in HM2. Why is it such sick number?
Thanks a lot.
