Redline in PLO vs Holdem

I've heard some people suggest that your redline in HM (non-showdown $) doesn't really matter in order to be a winning player. I then read Dusty Schmidt's blog where he says redline is super important and should always have a positive slope like his does.

Two questions...
1) Does having a positively sloped redline increase profit?
2) Should there be redline differences between PLO vs Holdem in terms of optimal slope?

I am looking for 6-max answers if that matters at all.

If #2 isn't possible to answer, let's assume that the same player played both holdem and PLO...should he expect a similar redline in both games?

improving your redline will help your over all profits as long as you increase without sacrificing your showdown winnings

i have been a winner in online cash for years at 6m and FR with a negative redline :)

can't answer PLOvNLH as i don't play much PLO

1) Not necessarily. Bluff way too much and you'll end up losing the profits back at showdown.

2) It's got a lot to do with style/balance. I'm guessing you can have a more positive redline in NLHE, since you can apply more pressure there (WA/WB scenarios are more common, and you can overbet). Could be wrong about that. Against very good players you need to be balanced, so perhaps in GTO-land there is a theoretically optimal redline/blueline ratio.

The redline is an area of the game where beginning players have lots of room to improve, hence its importance. It's relatively easy to learn the art of proper valuebetting against weak opposition. Stealing pots postflop takes more skill, and becomes more important as you move up in stakes.

Regarding Leatherass saying that it's incredibly important, I think a lot of the time we overrate the importance of things like that if they're especially important to our game. So for instance, Leatherass used to be known as a really nitty player a few years ago so it's likely that to keep on top of his game he's had to put extra focus on bluffing in more spots and looking to boost his red line in general. Similarly, If you were a player who has a predisposition to calling down too much a stat like WTSD or W$SD would seem incredibly important to you.

I once asked this question and was basically told that, so long as the profit line is on an upward slope, you shouldn't be too worried. However, if you are losing money in any spot, it can't hurt to investigate why and see if there's a way you could increase you profitability.

I also feel like there will be fewer people with positive redlines in PLO than NLH simply because there is less folding in PLO given equities run closer together. That said, I don't play NLH cash really except in mixed games so can't compare the two with any certainty.

I was thinking the same thing....PLO is allin so often I would think it would be harder to maintain a good redline without sacrificing anything.
