Anyone have any book recommendations for practicing math?

I was looking at Doug Hull's book, but it's $45. It seems everything associated with Ed Miller is laden with self-promotion, and thus, preposterous prices.

I bought the Kindle Sample and liked it, but I'd like to know if the whole book is worth it, or if there is other material out there that would be more cost effective.
