Price Comparison of RIO "Elite" Plan vs IveyLeague "Masters" Plan...
I noticed today that the price of the "Masters" plan on IveyLeague.com is $75/mth or $500 for a year. This is much more affordable than RIO Elite membership. Are there any plans to reduce the RIO Elite membership price to match the "Masters" (highest plan) on Phil Ivey's site?
The main reason I am asking is because I joined this site over a year ago as an Elite member, but had to cancel my membership because I couldn't afford the $100/mth, but I would def sign up again if the Elite membership was only $500 for a year which is what IveyLeague.com is offering for their highest plan right now.
I hate to admit it because I love this site, but if the price of the Elite plan stays $100/mth, I will probably have to switch over to IveyLeague for the more affordable "Masters" membership.
I understand that the stable of pros are different on both sites, but I don't think there's enough of a difference to justify paying more than double the price for an annual membership on RIO vs IveyLeague.

I think the rates has always been this way and will most likely not change due to the launch of a 'new' competitor site. Yes you are correct that their rate is cheaper, but for RIO's defence it offers 2vids per day consistently for the past 1yr+, idk if the other site has that x__x; only time will tell
looks like a rebranding of leggo poker with some big name additions. sure isn't clear how much quality and quantity you will get from big name pros
just watched Jen Harmon clip - why do I need to pay to have a TV pro explain pot odds to me and get it wrong? not a good start imo
That clip reminds me more of the old Full Tilt Academy thing than a real training site. Unlikely to reflect the overall quality of the vids (they do have some good online guys), but that was weak.
It looks like a mess tbh compared to RIO.
I think Phil G is almost certainly a better teacher than Phil I as well...obvious that Phil I is an outstanding player, however he has never struck me as someone who would be a good teacher - not his thing I suspect..
I just had the Elite membership i think two months but in my oppinion the 200$ was definitely worth.
The Forums on RIO are actually on of the best on the Internet. Here you will treat respectfull.
Iveyleague have a a couple of good coaches but they were already on leggo poker. Ivey, Antonius etc have to proof that they are good coaches.
Would a thread about the advantages of RIO be allowed on IveyLeague? A lot of places would just delete the OP as competitive spamming. I find RIO encourages all sorts of sensible discussion and has a great community.
Checked it out, but I can't even find the training section anymore.
When I looked at it yesterday, I saw that they'd only been releasing a video a week, instead of two a day.
Would definitely be interesting to see a video from Ivey, Antonius etc.
From what I've read, Ivey makes dumb prop bets when he's drunk, so maybe Phil or Ben can lure him into making a bet where if he loses, he has to make a video with them, for RIO.
Re: The price of Elite membership
Yes, $1200 annually is a lot to watch poker videos. But you need to take a long, honest look at what stakes you play, your bankroll, success rate, projection of future earning potential etc. and decide if you actually require elite level at this time.
On top of that, there are probably so many Elite members who never post here - guys who actually play Sauce, Phil, Ola etc. on a regular basis.
$1200 annually at those stakes is not only not much money but a super low price to charge for your actual day to day opponents to see and hear how you play vs. them and others.
I'm sure there's a lot more that goes into it, too.
Personally, I don't really like their interface x_x
They are marketing to different people than RIO. Some of the guys there are asking him where they should play their local tournaments.
Ivey still has a long way to go before he is good at articulating his thoughts. He's also super results oriented. I obviously signed up and watched the video but I am not so sure there's a ton he can teach me about how to improve because almost everything he does seems to be off of his feel which is incredibly hard (maybe impossible) to teach.
Personally, I would be willing to pay up to 300/month to be a member here. I mean, as long as the top billed guys were all making at least a video a month. However, I do know how difficult it is to keep that pace since I've been personally struggling with it.
Yeah, one video a month is hard :)
ouch, Phil!
Phil I was talking about for us normal everyday people. Not for borderline geniuses with the work ethic of a robot!
The reality is, if you play at a level where your opponents are watching RIO videos, and you are not, you leave yourself at a huge disadvantage. In that sense, RIO could easily charge up to $300/mon and would still get action since all the serious pros will pay a high price to stay ahead of the competition (or at the very least, make sure to see what the competition is watching).
I love RIO...literally nothing about the site I don't like. I was a cardrunners member for years and realize RIO is so much better than CR. For me personally, the $100/mth isn't affordable any longer. I wish that wasn't the case, but I didn't have a choice when I cancelled my Elite plan. Thanks for the input...I completely agree this site is superior to others...just was hoping I could sign up for an Elite membership again if the price was a little more in line with Ivey's site.
Thanks for the feedback everyone. Hopefully in the future I will be able to become an Elite member again at RIO.
I only have an essential membership atm and it is way more valuable than my CR membership. It's to the point where I'm thinking about ending my CR membership. I hope to one day be able to afford the elite membership so that I can learn to crush the pokers.
Even if your bankroll is 800 bucks getting elite is a no brainer
Study 7 months hard, Buyin to 50c/$1 for last hundo, and the sky's the limit
Just comparing the 2 websites alone before watching any of the video content shows the huge gulf in quality. I don't think you can beat the schedule here especially with the range and quality of videos provided.
I was a member of cardrunners back when it was made in Andrew Wiggens basement, and looked like a home made website, watching stinger play $20 MTT's. I believe the cost was $19/month...lets just do that. It helped me ten fold increase my game, but knowledge is power. Part of me hates affordable poker sites, and part of me doesn't mind because I can use them to my advantage.
All this being said, I believe if you want the best thought process then you should pay for it. When Taylor Caby would explain his thought process back in the day (arguably the best at doing this ever) I knew when I was watching them I was ripping their company off. Good videos are seriously invaluable, especially if you don't know the game. I personally don't pay for the elite package, but I understand why they need to be charging so much.
Wow, you not only modeled your game after Taylor Caby but your handle as well.
RiO is way better than IveyLeague's, $25 difference isn't that much considering the quality and the amount of stuff you have here. I signed in both and I have no doubt that here is way more ev than there.
Ivey league is only in its early days though and the content already looks stellar. Cole souths first videos looks promising.
Looks like they got Bill Chen and Jerrod Ankenman on board to make some theory videos.
Lets hope that RIO buys Ivey League so that we can all watch their videos from here!
Let's hope you get off your ass and become a RIO coach!!
Or let the Phil`s battle it out in HU4Sites.
A little ditty that reflects my philosophy about work:

This song comes to mind... for some reason. :P
Warning: Explicit Lyrics!
HeadsupVsSites would be sick. Phil galfond can take on Phil Ivey at high stakes HUNL and the videos can be posted on both sites so we can see the matches from both perspectives. My money is on Ivey.

Did she really get pot odds wrong, Zach?
Considering a lot of complete novice players are probably gonna sign up trough fb, these types of beginner oriented videos are a must. You`re really clueless if you don`t see the $ there.
And dissing Jen Harman to prove a point is kinda uber lame.
I have made a number of math videos here which are aimed at beginners, but I do not make them simplistic or inaccurate because of that. Instead, I break things down into a step-by-step method which I believe someone without strong math skills can follow and, if they struggle, I provide them access to myself so that they can ask questions and hopefully learn/improve.
I don't accept the argument that providing information to beginners is an excuse for lowering standards, rather it is about not treating certain information as assumed knowledge and building a strong foundation for deeper study.
hahahahhaah so sick!
What will make Iveyleague is that you will be getting content from the worlds best player Phil Ivey.
His popularity combined with that of the other pros will likely make it a success, but most players would tell you he's not top 5 in NL/PLO etc. like he used to be.
And it's probably hard for him to coach as well as other top pros, because they have been doing that for years.
Just because Ivey is (probably) the best player in the world doesn't make him the best teacher in the world.....Mozart was by most accounts a terrible teacher whilst being gifted beyond conception..
Most of the best football (soccer to US) managers have not been that great as players; of the ones I can think of only Guardiola was a top notch player, and even he was nowhere near as good as the Pele's/Maradona's of the world..
Simon, I agree there are very few football managers or coaches that stand out as being great players but Johan Cruyff is the main one. He was the best player in the world and was also Barcelona's most successful manager before Pep over took him.
I want coaching from the world's best coach.
This thread is like in the old martial arts movies where the two schools are feuding. We need to go over there and challeng his school to a sparring match. The
Phil vs. Phil in a 1 on 1 death match ftw!
OMG this site really sucks on my android devices!
Simmer down Hustla. My post was just for humor. The fact that they are having videos that basic makes the comparison of the sites futile. There's nothing wrong with her video being very basic, and I'm sure she did an adequate job. My side by side comparison of the videos was to illustrate the large differences of the business plans and to give a shot out to my poker man crush Phil fuckking Ivey... I mean Galfond.
And you saying that if I don't see the $ there, I'm clueless is off point. Were we evaluating the two sites in terms of profitability? No. OP was debating the quality of content per $ of the Masters plan.
Lol, why is everyone so sensitive on this forum...
@Tom- I wasn`t responding to you but nevermind.Of course the video looks silly from professional poker players perspective, and production fails miserably. But she`s probably brought on board by Ivey himself, as a friend and specifically to make those types of "complete noob", oriented vids. You don`t expect her to talk about range merging and river check raising ranges.
I haven`t really checked out the site thoroughly, but i don`t expect Bill Chen, Jerrod Ankenman and others to have such bad production in their theory videos.I`m just saying, dissing a video made by her for complete beginners, and measuring the sites standards by that video alone is not a gentlemans move. It`s a matter of respect. There`s other ways to be biased :)
@Zach-Ido :)
yes she really did get the pot odds wrong on the turn in the 2 minutes sample video
@hustla for me it isn't person it is just poker and when you release a 2 minute sample with 2 very basic mistakes(counting outs wrong and pot odds wrong on the turn) you should be called out for it no matter who you are - i am not judging the value of the site by 2 minutes as they do offer lots of great content and i am happy to be a member at both RIO and leggo/ivey
I just wanted to point out that Ivey League has some kind of censorship program active in the comment section, and somehow, they decided to censor the word "pot" (probably because of marijuana).
Of course, the site is still in it's beginnings, but censoring should not be present in the forums, especially not for words like pot. The whole comment section of the video about pot odds is filled with litte ****'s. They should just get moderators.
RIO not only has better videos but also has the best community and customer service I've seen in all the poker sites I've visited. Well worth the money IMO.
End rant.
That's so childish haha. Reminds me of my Runescape days when I was 12 year old; I could never write the word 'how' in Dutch, because they thought I was talking about a hoe.
Censoring a word because they think a grown man or woman can't handle reading it is way more offensive than the actual word, which isn't even derogatory towards any group of people.
"The whole comment section of the video about pot odds is filled with litte ****'s"
LOL - this is ridiculous. :-D
Ha ha! 8=====D
What do people think of the first video with Cole and Phil? I think its a pretty good debut video to be honest. Coles analysis was really in depth although i must say Ivey can be a little results oriented at times. However, it's still a good way to start off. Phil Ivey is even answering member questions within the forum.
I think the price is only for PLO players too high. MTT players and NLHE players get 4 to 5 times more vids to watch. I think it would be fair to offer a plan for ppl who only want to watch PLO content.
