PL(G)O
Welcome to my journey! I am beginning a new journey to learn PLO, so I thought it'd be fitting to write my first blog as well. I've always had a problem with accountability, so hopefully this thread will help me out with that.
As far as my background goes, I have been playing NLHE since 2010. Over the last few years I have become a winning MTT player and have had ok success at NL cash. Honestly, grinding out 6 max NL was one of the most boring things I have ever done, which is why I want to convert to 6 max PLO. I've played maybe 10K hands life time, but haven't ever really put much effort into learning the game. I've watched videos and looked at looked at a few things pre-flop, but overall, I'm starting from scratch.
The plan:
My starting bankroll will be $1,000(I have $1K already set as a back up aside from my normal savings). That by no means is my life roll and I can reload anytime that I need to. I work full time as a sales manager and have a fiance that is 7 months pregnant, so I'll be devoting 15-25 hours a week to playing. I will be starting at 50 PLO and staying there until I have a $3K roll, at which time I will start to shot take at 100 PLO. I 6-8 table NL cash, but plan to cut my PLO tables down to 3 at the most, and 2 at the start of my session.
End Goal- I am on a 1 year contract at my current job and next July I plan to move my family to the Fort Lauderdale area. I would like to have a $50K roll and $30K saved for my monthly bills so I can start grinding live/online PLO full time. The $30K will mostly come from my paycheck every month, but I do plan to figure out a small hourly to pay myself as an incentive to put in volume once I get to 100 PLO. For the most part, I'll be using my profit to move up in stakes. I'm going to be a bit aggressive with 50 PLO, but as I move up in stakes I will also move up my buy in requirements, I'm only being aggressive now because the money doesn't mean much to me and is easily replenished.
I will be posting updates 1 or 2 times a week. My first plan of attack besides playing is to start learning to use PPT and Poker Juice, any suggestions on good tutorial videos here would be welcome! I'm taking today off, but will be grinding Wed, Thurs, and Fri. I will post my first update on Saturday, graphs will come at the end of every month.
