Optimal strategies for BR management, is it for everyone?
This is a serious question.
It might sound ignorant, but please, when analyzing this post: try to imagine that different methods other than the norm exists for achieving what one wants to achieve with a game like poker.
What are the merits of having a good BR management if you are a semi pro that makes about the same amount of money playing poker as his/her dayjob? Ive never used a proper BR system. Ive always played with a deposit, ex: 400$, and then cashed out when ive gone thru a couple of levels (or won a tourney) and reached something like 3-6k$ or more (over a couple of days timespan).
If one is struggling with restricting game selection and always want to play higher, is this a viable option to control it?
Of course the norm says that operating this way is the method of a fish or an ignorant player, but does it have to be? I use alot of time studying different aspects of all the poker games, I practice and try to form my own type of strategies.
Ive recently purchased my first house (loan-free) and helped finance it with poker winnings. I have a samplesize on the larger side that shows black numbers for all of the last 4 years both live and online.
I would like some feedback on what you guys think would improve if I were able to adapt to playing with a BR system. Do you think that I would make more money playing? Its not like im good enough to play high enough to make ALOT (nosebleed type of money) anyway. I have a dayjob that pays decent so im not relying on poker as a method of income. Do you think it would help me in any way shape or form in improving as a player to adapt to a BR system?
I have always liked the process of learning, I think thats why I love poker as much. Thats the reason I signed up at RIO, the reason I upgraded to Elite membership, the reason I play and study the game as much as I do.
(I made a similar post to this one when I first signed up at this site, because I wanted some advice on how to adapt to using BR management and get better at game selection. However, since that time I havent really changed much, except for studying alot more than before i signed up (obviously) and improving alot (after implying some of the strategies ive learned here and mixed them with my own). Taking my position in life and in poker into consideration, are there really any merit in adapting to a BR management system or not?)
