Non-Schengen Countries that Allow Pokerstars.COM?

Hi guys, I've been traveling around Europe in Schengen territories since the beginning of 2015, and in April i'm going to have to move outside of the Schengen area to abide by visa laws. Can anyone tell me

-how strictly enforced the Schengen visa policy actually is?
-any non-Schengen countries that you can use the Pokerstars.COM client to play from.

Right now the only non-schengen country that pokerstars support has verified as playable for .COM is Romania. they refuse to comment on other countries and will only give you further information on a country if you are physically present in it, which is useless b/c by then you have signed on the client and confirmed playability for yourself

Thanks for helping me navigate!

EDIT: Didn't see you want Stars.com, why do you want that necessarily?

The UK is probably your best option, as gambling winnings are tax-free and it's a non-Schengen country. Only problem is that you still need to pay America taxes, I'm pretty sure.

*i need stars.COM b/c i'm doing month-to-month leases and it's not enough time for me to get registered with utility bills / other verification documents at each of my addresses

many of the countries have their own legislation that restrict you from playing unless you verify within that country. For instance, I'm in barcelona this month and i'm only able to play here under pokerstars.es. except in order to get verified on .es, you need utility bills/bank statements.
Here is an email i got from pokerstars support that explains the situation a little more:

As far as other countries in Europe, there are several countries that
use the PokerStars.EU software. These are:

Germany Finland Greece Hungary Luxembourg Netherlands Poland Romania
Slovenia Sweden Latvia Lithuania

If you are visiting any of the above countries, you can play but only
using the .COM software that you have always used. If you are bringing
a laptop with you then you can just login and play, but if you need to
install the software fresh, you will need to email us once you are in
any of the above places and we will provide a link so you can access
the software.

Keep in mind you cannot use the PokerStars.EU software, only .COM.

A few other countries in Europe have more strict licensing rules. If
you are visiting Italy or Denmark you will absolutely not be able to
play at all due to local regulations. PokerStars.COM will not work in
those places and you would have to be a resident in order to use the
local versions of the software.

Similarly if you are in France, players can only play on PokerStars.FR
but in order to do that you need to have a European bank account.

Any other country that is not mentioned above I cannot comment on but
can only urge you to check any local laws which apply before using our
services and to seek the independent advice of local counsel of their
choosing if questions or uncertainty persist.

Here's a part of the email I got, maybe it helps with some of your questions:

"On February 3, all players in your country will be moving from the PokerStars.COM software to the PokerStars.EU software, and will operate under our license issued by the Malta Lotteries & Gaming Authority.

You will still be able to access the same great games and tournaments, and play against the same players as you did on PokerStars.COM.

PokerStars will continue to protect your player account balance under the same high standards, and we will continue to offer the same level of customer support from our base in Malta. "

The current situation for Croatia is that there should be a reading of the proposed law around mid 2015 and come into effect at the start of 2016. I have some links from poker news relates sites so pm me if you're interested (as I'm not sure if I'm allowed to post them here).

Ok I cant wait for that. Thanks though :) currently slovenia seems the most srs option

Nitronius 10 years ago

Np. Have you considered Malta ? Not very expensive, great weather, tax free if I remember correctly.

Insilicio 10 years ago

I did consider it but flight tickets are expensive for me and it is not clearly tax free afaik. Gotta setup companies or w/e and then pay like 5%. Not exactly sure though. Like with slovenia places like italy, croatia, austria are very close etc :)
