My quest to 25/50 plo

So far I've taken 2 shots at 25/50 and they both ended the same way...total disaster!

I know I can hang with the guys at 25/50 because I play a lot of the same guys at 5/10, 10/20 and I do very well there.

I have about 4k left in the account after yesterdays mess. That should be enough for me to rebuild a comfortable roll in no time. I've done it many times with much less.

The last two shots I took, I was super under rolled for 25/50. This time I will wait till I have 50k in the account before taking another shot. Many will consider this super under rolled but on ftp the games that run are shallow and the max buy in is 2k.

I had given myself a certain amount a while back that I wanted to cash out before building a big roll and I still have 30k left to cash out.

The plan is to play 2/5 and 5/10 till I get the roll up to 15k. Then I add 10/20. At the end of every day, if I have over 20k in the account, I withdraw the exceeding balance. Once I've cashed out 30k, I don't withdraw till I hit 50k in the account. Once I have 50k in the account, I take my revenge on this damn limit!!!!!

Another thing I will work on that will help me achieve my goal is to stop being such a degenerate. My most recent shot was spread over 2 days. The first day I lost 13k in games that had a fish in them. That I could live with. I then I threw myself a little pity party. The next day I woke up a little hung over, skipped breakfast and joined all the hu tables till I finally found a reg that would play me. This is a pic of my desk when I played him...

This can't happen again!

I'm taking today off but tomorrow, any 2/5 and 5/10 table that is running, skandalouzzz will be on it!

I need to put in a ton of volume because I'm in a race for the black card pro sponsorship that ends next month.

In conclusion, my main goal are:

1. Stop being a degenerate!

2. Win the race

3. Make 75k (30k cash out, 45K to build roll)

4. Crush 25/50!!!!

Admire the aggression and the gamble.  I'm at a different place in my life and with a similar roll don't always feel comfortable playing 5/10 (albeit I don't think I'm half the player you are).  But I respect e aggressive bankroll strategy.  As long as you stay away from the times when general life stuff reduces the chance of you playing your A game then I don't think this is degenerate at all.  I think it's a calculated risk.  Best of luck.

Thanks. Don't forget it's shallow so 400 max buy in on 5/10. I will need to run good the first day though or I will bust the account. If I do, I redeposit and try again. I think that even if it takes me a few tries, I'll build my roll faster than grinding the smaller stakes.

Your goal shouldn't be to get 50k and go play 25/50 PLO.
There's a reason people don't do that. You'll go broke, no matter how good you are.

busting a bankroll and going broke are not the same thing.  clearly OP is a winning player that has some idea about the very real risk of ruin he is taking on with this aggressive strategy.  He seems ok with the risk and understands that he may very well fail to accomplish his goals in the process.  I think suggesting that he has no chance of succeeding is also incorrect as he very clearly has a realistic chance to rebuild quickly and take another shot at higher stakes.

I can't afford to operate with such a large risk of ruin, and most other poker players (pros and casual alike) won't be able to play their A game facing such a difficult potential outcome.  But OP seems at peace with the variance, and is trying to greatly increase his expected long term winnings.  For him it seems like a reasonable decision.

My plan is to build the roll to 50k and take another shot. Also it's not like I will exclusively play 25/50 once I get there. It's rare to see 25/50 action on ftp these days. I've been playing every table running from 2/5 to 10/20. I just want to add 25/50 to the repertoire.

I said I would take the day off but after watching a video, I got a serious itch to play. I did a 6 hour session and already broke one of my rules. I was up about 2.5k when I saw a sitting fish at the 10/20. I couldn't help but sit. I ran well so it's all good! :D

Day 1

There were some pretty fun hands but I don't know how to post hh in here.

Loving the gamble! To post HHs, you have to make a new thread, but instead of "New Post" click "New Hand History" then just cut/paste the text and you're good to go.

Today was a struggle but fortune favors those who persevere!

My discipline failed me again today. I got stacked by a fish at the 10/20 and he ran off with my money to the 25/50. I could not resist the urge to follow him. It didn't last long and it only cost me 300$ but I'll go busto so quick if I don't stop doing this.

Day 2

Ending br:9.9k

Lead in the point race: 28k

I think this was one of the most important hands for you, I was watching today a little bit 2,5 5 w/ $1 antes... I am also making notes how players play... Feliceko is strong, there are some other very strong players at these stakes...  STD and FAYF are good imo...

gl btw....

Yesterday was a walk in the park compared to today. Special thanks goes to ragingheart for challenging me hu to 6 tables of 10/20 cap when I was stuck 4k.

I got my rakeback overnight plus 500$ for being 1st on the july leaderboard.

Today I played the wcoop 700 plo 1r1a. Midway I was doing amazing, almost chip leader. Then I lost a flip and it was all downhill from there. At least I mincashed 2300$ but with a buy in of 2k, its pretty lame.

I also played cash games on the side. I ran pretty bad but managed to still book a win. No more tourneys for me though, they distract me from the cash games and I felt mentally drained when it was over. So stressful!

My friend needed me to transfer him 2k.
