Momentum vs Regression to the mean

Didn't really know where to put this, this forum seemed like a reasonable place.  I just wanted to get some of your guys' opinions on these two concepts:

Regression to the mean.

Momentum.

Does it have to be the case that either they both exist or they both don't exist?  It would seem to me that 'regression to the mean' has some implication of essentially 'reverse momentum'.  Maybe my understanding of it is wrong though.

I have a strong feeling either they both exist or they both don't exist so it just seems to me like holding two contradictory viewpoints if you will assert that regression to the mean is a real thing and you try to assert that there's no such thing as momentum.  I suppose it does also seem like there could be a 'grey-ish' type area potentially if somebody could give me a good argument against my thoughts. Just wanted to hear some other peoples take on this.  Thx.
