Matt Janda's Ranges from the Book

Does anyone think these ranges are still applicable to the current meta game? And any of the pros agree with them?

I found it somewhat startling that the range was so wide from early.....what do you do about playing weak hands OP and 3 bets?

I personally think the ranges are indeed wide from certain positions, I don't open as wide, not sure if it would be profitable against aggressive regs. 3Bets I think it's just the way Janda balances his range preflop

Very curious on what someone like Sauce123 would think.

Personally I feel you have to adjust ranges based on the table dynamics. Is the table mostly TAGs, LAGS, etc and adjust ranges based on that.

Don't know how much of an addition this is to the thread, but that sicko OtB_RedBaron did a (fantastic) 2p2 PG&C a while back and someone asked him about the Janda book. He said "CREV >>>>>>>>> Janda" and that "I dislike the book mostly because his overall approach (making worst hands indifferent between betting and openfolding) for approximating gto lines for preflop, flop and turn is wrong, and not just a little bit." He went on to say that the book "just hasnt got much to do with GTO, finding frequencies such that betting/raising ATC is 0EV is just completely arbitrary and irreleveant on any street but the river. Better approaches are studying toy games or brute force imo." In terms of what kind of WR a player could expect using the Janda ranges "I guess his approach would result in a balanced but meh/bad strategy. His approach gets in trouble in spots where EV of betting air should be very different from 0 or where people dont have air.

Brute force was somewhat poorly phrased, could be playing (and analyzing results in HEM/PT), could be doing CREV sims, ..."

Thanks for the post. I am newbie to poker and learning the poker rules by reading a poker training book Poker by the Book by John Anhalt to build the fundamentals of poker. I have heard about this Matt Janda's Ranges from the Book. But didn't read yet.

@JerseyGrinder23
I definitely think you have to adjust to the ranges they're opening, but you should have a standard range in spots and then either tighten up or loosen up accordingly.
